PERFORMANCE TASK 3

Defining myself is a broad term as mostly, it’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that
defines me. Meaning I am defined by what others perceive of me by my actions, the moments I
share with them making memories and building my character is the same factor that makes me
stand out from the others. I am unique in my own way simply because I exist and have an own
thinking mind, with different thoughts, wide range of beliefs and different philosophies and for
that reason alone, we, in each of our own way, stand out.

Comparing myself and differentiating myself from various philosophers is an interesting topic as
they all have distinct philosophies and traits I would like to share with. Take Socrates as the first
example and to which I deeply align with as he states that we must question everything to learn
as much as you can. Like me, Socrates had a deep fondness for philosophy - for him, the pursuit
of wisdom was among the highest aims of mankind.

Plato’s Philosophy is one I always keep in mind, he advocated the nature of man as driven by
both reason and desire, speculating that remembering his true nature and controlling both
would lead to a perfect state. Understanding of the self in its purest form. Rene Descartes
opened my mind on my existence with a single theory to which I deeply agree with, "I think,
therefore, I am" this quote alone is really the best way to gauge existence is by one's ability to
question. Because the best way for you know you really exist is because you can interpret
existence, formulated in your mind. The mind that created actions which defined you.

Lastly, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustin of Hippo contributed in me religious philosophies
and arguments that really strengthened my mind and my perception of the world both looking
from their time, and mine, spiritually it gave me wisdom to understand and appreciate the
harmony between faith and reason, and between Christianity and philosophy. Which really
stuck into my mind and my perception of religion and how it relates to philosophical view of life
which in turn helped me grow as a person.
