A Proposed Solution for Climate Change
 SUMMARY

Project 4s is a proposed solution for the rising issues on Climate Change

with the usage of Electronic Vehicles to replace existing methods of
transportation.

Various studies shows that Urban Areas are the biggest contributors
on our world’s vast change of climate. If you go through the factors,
Transportation has the highest number of Carbon Emission which we know,
one of the major causes of climate change.

The usage of Electric Jeepneys will be the highlight of the project.

This project will be using Evaporated-Driven Engines that produces

double the energy than an ordinary engine but much more cost-efficient and
environmentally secure. It uses Renewable Energies such as Hydroelectric
Energy to produce the force needed for it to move, making it zero Carbon
Emission.

A 2018 study from the University of Michigans Transportation Research

Institute found that electric vehicles cost less than half as much to operate as
gas-powered cars. The average cost to operate an EV in the U.S. is $485 per
year, while the average for a gasoline-powered vehicle is $1,117.

This project will also be done in an in-depth timeline, creating a holistic

open space for the government to gradually let in the Mass Transport Groups
so that it would not be as heavy for them.
 BACKGROUND AND PROBLEM

Climate Change is a phenomenon that refers to seasonal changes over

a long period with respect to the growing accumulation gases in the
atmosphere. Global Warming, an increase in the Earth’s Atmospheric
temperature, is one of the corresponding effects of Climate Change in the
society, especially in the areas that holds increasing number of population
such as Urban Areas.

An Article by Apples Jalandoni, ABS-CBN News, last November 2018

shows the rising Carbon emission on the country’s capital, Metro Manila. The
said article states that a rise of almost 17% from the country’s Global
Contribution rate last 2010 with 0.31% to year 2015’s 0.39%.

Also, on the article, Mass Transportation leads as the biggest

contributor of Carbon and Greenhouse Gasses in the locality with 41.8%
followed by Coal and Fuel Oil for Electricity with 35%.

With more Carbon Emission coming from Urban Areas, smaller parts of
the country would also be affected since Carbon spreads like wildfire in our
Atmosphere, trapping more heat causing a numerous increase in the world
climate. But also, modern transportation methods also affects citizen in-land,
particularly the commuters as studies shows that Carbon could bring
numerous Respiratory diseases.

A new and safe way of transportation is what the country currently

needs, and Project 4s fits the puzzle as it would promote a much more safe
way of transportation but also secures the economic growth of the country.

Project 4s promotes the usage of Electronic Vehicles to replace existing

methods of transportation as a cleaner, energy efficient way and economically
secure alternative.

This project would be secure in our country, since the resources and
the production areas are available in the locality such as the abundance of
Hydroelectric Energy, Wind Energy, Solar Energy and many more which, will
be effectively use found on the methods below.
 PROPOSED SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

 Methods

One of the focal points of this project is its engines. Current Mass
Transportation Vehicles uses Combustion Engines, James Page Deaton in the
article 5 Modern Car Engines that Differ from Older Car Engine, states that
this type of engine uses diesel and gasoline to create rational force in order to
move the vehicle. This engine have been found out that emits a numerous
amount of Carbon Dioxide due to the high number of chemical forces it uses.

But, Electric Vehicles on this project uses a different form of engine,

Evaporation-Driven Engines. This type on Engine was founded by Ozgur
Sahin, an Associate Professor of Biological Sciences and Physics at Columbia
University.

He states on an interview at Technologyreview.com that this engine

generates power from the bacterial spores that expand and contract as it
absorbs and release the air moisture, creating a rational force. This device
could provide more than 325 gigawatts of electricity-generated capacity. This
materials could be found on various Renewable Energy most preferably
hydroelectric ones.

The outer shell of the Jeepneys will be made out of solid layers of
Polycarbonate Sheets. This sheet traps wind inside the vehicle that would
circulate ventilation and give comfort to its riders. This will also be cost-
efficient and easy to manufacture since corporations such as Polylite Ph could
provide this sheets, decreasing cost for export.
