Dear Teacher Associate, Parents and Students,

Hello, my name is Daphne Yoner, and I am so

excited and honored to be given the opportunity to be in
your classes. I am incredibly happy to be joining your
classroom community, and to have the opportunity to learn
with and teach the students in your classrooms. I am
currently pursuing a math education degree at the
University of Lethbridge, working to become a high school math teacher. I am very excited to be able to
work with the grade 7, 8, 10 and 11 students in their mathematics course this semester! I adored
working with the grade 1, 2 and 3 students in my first practicum, however my main ambition for
becoming a mathematics teacher was to teach at a high school level. I am thrilled to see how this
experience shapes my view on teaching.

I have predominantly worked with younger children through out my life and a big part of that
came from working at the daycare while I attended high school. I primarily worked with the toddler
group between the ages three to six. I also obtained a Child Care Level 1
Certificate required for working at the daycare. It was an amazing
experience; I still miss the kids to this day because they taught me so
much. Along with working and teaching small toddlers over the summer, I
was working as an interpreter at an underground mine that has been out
of commission for a little more than 50 years and that too was a fantastic
experience. It was definitely a big change regarding audience because I
did tours for school groups of all ages and families. It was super amazing
to have worked there. Then my most recent job I had the last two
summers was with the Frank Slide Interpretive Center doing programs about immigration and coal
mining for our school groups that came through. In that job I
also helped with the sleepovers that we have at the center too
for the students. I absolutely loved all of these jobs, I found
them interesting and I found out that I love the social
interaction part of those jobs the most.

As for my hobbies, they include playing with my little

siblings (In my family photo to the right I am the girl in the top
right corner, with the sunglasses on my head). I also love to
read (mostly fantasy novels) and I also love to draw. (Down
below is one of the album covers that I have drawn)
In this amazing opportunity I hope to learn some good strategies and
habits that will help me in my own classroom. I am extremely excited to
connect with these students because that connection I think is so genuine. I
know already that I will learn so much from just even being able to witness
and be a part of this classroom dynamic that you have made for your
students. I look forward to meeting you and all the students as well. I am
excited to see what this path has in store for us this semester.

Sincerely, Daphne Yoner
