December 20, 2019: Exam duration has changed for NID DAT Prelims 2020 scheduled to be conducted on December 29 for
MDes admissions. Now, Common Design Aptitude Test (CDAT) will be of 50 minutes duration and discipline specific entrance

National Institute of Design (NID) conducts an entrance exam in order to shortlist aspirants for admission in Bachelor of Exam
Design (BDes), Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Master of Design (MDes) courses offered at its
campuses. NID entrance exam pattern is such that candidates need to appear for two tests, which are, NID DAT Prelims and
NID DAT Mains.

Candidates are informed that NID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) Prelims is a pen and paper based written test whereas NID
DAT Mains comprises of a Studio Test and Personal Interview round. Only those candidates who clear NID DAT Prelims will
be allowed to appear for NID DAT Mains.

Further, candidates can go through detailed exam pattern, marking scheme and type of questions asked in NID Entrance
Exam 2020.

NID DAT Mains 2020: Exam Format for BDes & GDPD Admissions
As part of NID DAT Mains, candidates need to appear for a studio test followed by a personal interview round.

NID Studio Test for BDes Admissions: The studio test for NID admissions may comprise of questions which aspirants have to
solve in different formats like drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations, etc.
Candidates who are shortlisted in the Studio Test round will only be allowed to appear for the the personal interview round.

Personal Interview for BDes Admissions: The interview round for BDes/GDPD admissions will be held separately for each
specialisation (right after the studio test is held) at the same exam centre.

Studio Test for MDes Admissions: This test for MDes admissions at NID will be held separately for each specialisation (that
