This document outlines a design of experiment that aims to determine the effects of adding different proportions of chlorine bleach (0%, 15%, 30%, 50%) to a clayey soil sample. The experiment will measure various geotechnical properties of the soil including moisture content, unit weight, void ratio, specific gravity, degree of saturation, Atterberg limits, optimum moisture content, and maximum dry unit weight. Statistical analyses including simple comparison and regression analysis will be used to analyze the results and determine the impact of chlorine bleach on the physical properties of the clayey soil.

Cuales, Reginald Ray Group Members Falco, Fybe Lacap, Jonathan Guerrero, Cindy Effects of the Physical Parameters of Polyvinyl Chloride Pipes to DoE Title Hydraulic Flow Characteristics This DoE aims to: 1) Conduct and Design Experiment that will determine the effect Design of chlorine bleach with a clayey soil sample. Experimental 2) Develop the potential, strength and capacity of the soil sample Objectives with chlorine bleach. 3) Discuss the effects of chlorine bleach in the clayey soil. Commented [Office2]: These three learning verbs are based on the TIP-CE SO d Input Factors design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze, and Type of Soil Clayey Soil interpret data, and synthesize information to provide valid conclusions for investigating complex problems Material Chlorine Bleach Proportioning 0%, 15%, 30% and 50% of Chlorine Bleach -“Develop Models” for the terms Analyze and Interpret -“Discuss” for the Terms Interpret and Synthesize Commented [Office3]: Independent Variables Output Responses Moisture content Moisture content is the water content of a soil along with its liquid and Commented [Office4]: Dependent Variables plastic limits as determined by Test Method D4318, used to express relative consistency or liquidity index. Unit Weight Unit Weight also known as specific weight is the total weight if the soil divided by its total volume. Void Ratio The value of void ratio depends on the consistence and packing of the soil. It is directly affected by compaction. Some typical values of void ratio for different soils are given below only as general guidelines. Specific Gravity Specific gravity is the ratio of the density of a substance to the density of a reference substance; equivalently, it is the ratio of the mass of a substance to the mass of a reference substance for the same given volume. Degree of Saturation Degree of Saturation is the ratio of the humidity ratio of moist air to the humidity ratio of saturated moist air at the same temperature and pressure. Atterberg’s Limit The Atterberg limits are a basic measure of the critical water contents of a fine-grained soil: its shrinkage limit, plastic limit, and liquid limit. Depending on its water content, a soil may appear in one of four states: solid, semi-solid, plastic and liquid. Optimum Moisture The Optimum Water Content of soil is the water content at which a Content maximum dry unit weight can be achieved after a given compaction effort. A max dry unit weight would have no voids in the soil. If you were trying to compact a hard dry soil to make it denser, you might want to get it wet. The OPT is the water content of the soil in which you could compact it the most. If there is too much water you would have too much pore water pressure during compression to compact any further. Maximum Dry Unit Maximum Dry Unit weight depends on the packing, compaction, and Weight humidity condition of the soil. Some typical values of dry unit weight are given below for different soils. The values correspond to normally consolidated condition unless otherwise stated. Design Statistical- Based Analysis and Interpretation Commented [Office5]: The team MUST be creative and critical in thinking possible Statistical-Based Methodologies Simple Comparison The results from the Moisture Content, Compaction and Atterberg’s that they can applied to their present DoE Project (one-factor-at-a-time) Limit test will be compared and it will determine the effect of chlorine bleach in geotechnical properties of clayey soil. Regression Analysis Statistical method that allows to determine the relationships of values or outputs for the proportions of chlorine bleach.
