Based from the article Major Problems and Constraints for Organic Farming in India shared by Puja

Mondal, Organic farming is widely considered to be a far more sustainable alternative when it comes to
food production. The lack of pesticides and wider variety of plants enhances biodiversity and results in
better soil quality and reduced pollution from fertilizer or pesticide run-off. Mondal also stated that the
most important constraint felt in the progress of organic farming is the inability of the government policy
making level to take a firm decision to promote organic agriculture- the lack of awareness. Use of bio-
fertilizers and bio pesticides requires awareness and willingness on the part of the farming community.
Knowledge about the availability and usefulness of supplementary nutrients to enrich the soil is also vital
to increase productivity. Attention on the application of composts/organic manure is also lacking. An
orientation and training should be conducted to the farming community in order for them to be
knowledgeable on how to use the bio-fertilizers, bio pesticides and some products that is part of the
organic farming/agriculture so that the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 would not be a waste in case it
will be passed so it would help Filipino farmers.
