DEPARTMENTAL STORE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Synopsis
A departmental store or department store is a large store that stocks many varieties of

goods in different departments. This is a retail establishment offering a large number of

consumer goods belonging to different product categories. The store may have many stores to

accommodate all these different types of products. Departmental stores may sell clothing,

jewelry and accessories, home appliances, cosmetics, toiletries, toys, paints, hardware, sporting

goods, electronics, stationery, etc. All these goods are categorized into different sections and can

be found in different departments of the same shop.

The basic concept of departmental stores is allowing the customer to buy all his

requirements under one roof. This project “Depart Store Management System”, which is

designed to handles all the transaction done in the shop. This Application is developed to

computerize the store works. When a bundle of products are purchased from the dealers, all the

details are noted down along with the dealer’s name. The quantity purchased is entered in the

stock. Initially the name of the product is saved in the database. The system is developed using

Vb.net language as a front end and MS Access as the back end database which stores all the

records of the store.


SYSTEM STUDY

Existing System

Existing system of the departmental store is using all the records and the details of the

process manually. With manual work and the effort it also takes lot of time to do the

maintenance of the department store. And we need lot of manpower comparing to the digitalized

system. Every shop details sales details as well as the overall maintenance expense and the

departmental stores profit details must be done manually.

Proposed System

Shop-owners can access this software using their own unique login-id and password.

Various software modules have been provided in this software which caters to the needs of the

shop. For example, the shop-owner can view the product list of his shop and order from the

warehouse whichever products are required (provision for viewing sales of each product has

been made too). Another module generates a bill whenever a transaction occurs. Some other

modules provide for updating of price of any product, viewing the sales of the shop and adding

new items. Thus each shop owner can manage his shop electronically through this software.

These modules include all the operations of the shops in the departmental store

Item Details

In this module we include all the item information and the details of the shops in the

system. Each and every products description with their information is stored here. Also the

number of sections in the shops and total shop details with their owner details are all stored in

here.

Sales

Every day sales details are all included in this system here we have all the information

about every day sales and the product demand. As well as it include the details of ordering

products.
Purchase

Every day purchase details are all included in this system here we have all the

information about every day product demand. As well as it include the details of ordering

products.

Employee Details:

Every shop has multiple employees working for their shop. All those employee details

are stored and maintained in this module. Every employee’s personal information like phone

number, address, blood group etc. details are stored here. It also includes official information like

designation, date of joining etc.

Customer Details

This module contains all the information about the customer. Customers are the

registered person and they are the Major Asset to any Firm and they buy the products from the

store, so it is necessary to maintain customer details in every organization. Customer details such

as customer name, address, city, customer Id are maintained in the Module.

Supplier Details

This module contains all the information about the Suppliers. Suppliers are the backbone

of every Organization. Every store has its own suppliers who supplies raw materials to the store

as whole or a retail product. In supplier module, we maintain all the suppliers detail such as

Supplier ID which is a unique Identification number, assigned to each suppliers to identify

suppliers uniquely.
