BRIEF - STORAGE: IN THE SERVICE OF THE ISLAND

construction under the responsibility of the political entity

STORAGE & EFFICENCY COMMUNITY : STORAGE FOR THE POPULATION

• If possible use of local material

provide sufficient storage space on the island

cover frontal entrance

• Frame = module of the Rapa Nui storage box
(1600x1600mm)
• Extension according to needs (unidirectional) Essential relationship between inside and outside

Easy access

consomption upt to 40’000 m2 of PV needed

PROTECT 4’000 kL/day to support the autonomy
of Rapa nui

Production for the city’s water and electricity networks

avoid soil contamination

In case of vacancy, the storage can re-
ceive another program (e. g. market)

5. ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL, UTILITIES SUPPLY, WASTE MANAGEMENT

WATER MANAGEMENT ENERGY

• Rainwater harvesting • Use of photovoltaic panels to produce electricity
• Drainage system to protect the founda-
tions

Island production
N S

• One unit storage (90 m2)

Rated power rating = 11 kWc, Annual production = 15 000 - 20 000 kWh/ an

WASTE MANAGEMENT VENTILATION

• Garbage bins in the service area outside the building
• Easy access: close to the road • Natural ventilation
• Very little waste should be generated by storage • Use of a cooling system in case of cold storage
• Waste sorted before being brought to the waste facility • Raise to protect from moisture

Groupe 01 - Laura Ardizzone - Joséphine Bouvet - Nicolas Rychner - Anthony Genton - Loïc Kritzinger - STORAGE FACILITY
6. CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND SYSTEMS

CONNECTION COLUMN-TRUSSES-ROOF
- Knot between column and beam to support wooden trusses
- Tie rod necessary to stiffen the eaves
- The roof must be strong enough to support a pv system (≈ 20 kg/pv)

NATURAL VENTILATION

- Inclined wooden slats allow air to enter to ventilate the storage

unit
- They are fixed on the support column by using a metal element

TECHNICAL STRIP FLOOR COMPOSITION

- Smooth flooring is essential to facilitate circulation and manoeuvring
- water tank and injection into the network - Solid wooden lathing 150 x 1500 x 40 mm
- electric car charging station - Wooden beam grid 200 x 400 mm
- parking lot - Concrete fondations 300 x 300 mm

8. LOT AND URBAN LANDSCAPE

1. STORAGE IN AGRICULTURAL AREAS PONCTUAL INTEGRATION AT THE SCALE OF RAPA NUI

- possible landscape integration in hilly land

2. STORAGE IN PERIPHERAL AREAS

- recognizable by the entrance
- defines and delimits the street front

STORAGE AS PUNCTUAL ENTITIES SUPPLYING THE NETWORKS OF THE ISLAND

- activate the territory to supply energy production and water networks

9. ADAPTATION S N

REVERSE ROOFING
- to maximize the benefits of sunshine in the north

DEEP EXPANSION TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE SLOPE

- V-shaped roof - no needs of natural lights

- rainwater harvesting in the trough of the V N S - materials saving
- only for small storage (agriculture)

N S

GROUP 6 _ OFFSHORE PLATFORM

- no need for looting
- corridor as unloading deck
- sur-elevation provided by the platform according to the height of cargo ships

CONSTRUCTION ADAPTABLE TO DIFFERENT MATERIALS INTEGRATION OF THE COLD ROOM

- hermetically sealed
