To Whom It May Concern:

As music specialist at Prince Elementary School it is my distinct pleasure to write this letter of
recommendation for Bonnie Mitson. As my student teacher for this spring semester (2020)
Ms. Mitson works with every grade level at our school (K-5) teaching general music. She
also contributes as a member of the specialist team Professional Learning Community, and
provides support with before- and after-school K-2 parking lot duties.

Ms. Mitson is a caring, personable teacher who is dedicated to helping each child in her
classroom develop musical skills. She sets a positive classroom tone and works hard to
develop management skills which encourage all students to be actively engaged. She also
takes the time to help individual students who are struggling with behavioral issues or gaps in
their skill development. She is well-respected by students because she demonstrates that same
respect for them.

As a student-colleague I have also been impressed with Ms. Mitson’s musicianship. She plays
a variety of stringed instruments, she sings well, and can easily use her voice to demonstrate
the quality of singing she’s wanting from the students. Equally impressive is how she works
to carefully present information to young students so that they can develop their musical skills
without feeling overwhelmed with too much information. Her ability to ‘read’ a class and
immediately adjust her teaching is also remarkable. Ms. Mitson demonstrates professionalism
in her demeanor with students, parents, colleagues and administrators.

I feel privileged to have this opportunity to work with Bonnie Mitson and highly recommend
her for any music teaching position. Any school would be fortunate to have Bonnie on their
staff.
