Multiple Chord Tones Per Bar

1. There are 7 chord tones 1 3 5 7 9 11 13

2. Perform 2 note combinations thru tune (there are 42 combinations)

1. for example 3 and 7 or 5 and 9 or 3 and 11 etc.

2. Practicing away from instrument

1. Think mentally thru tune of two chord tones etc.

3. Multiple Chord Tones per Bar continued

1. Randomly practice any 2 chord tones you like thru tune

2. Practice 3 note combination or 4 note combinations or 5 note


combinations on each chord

4. Approach Notes

1. notes that encircle a chord tone from either below or above or both

2. Like a frame to a picture

3. Simple Frames

1. Chromatic below

2. Scale tone above

3. Chromatic below and scale above

4. Scale above chromatic below

4. Approach notes can start on or off the beat and can use different rhythms

5. Ornate frames can be 5 notes long

6. Exercise 1

1. Target 3rd thru entire song with chromatic below and scale above
pitting chord tone on beat 1

2. Target 7th with scale above and chromatic below


3. Target 9th with scale above and chromatic below

4. Try targeting 5th with a combination of these two previous frames

5. Try starting the frame on an up beat

6. Try mixing these frames on or off the beat when you start

7. Adding tag notes to approach notes

1. any note or notes added after target..can be attached or detached
