National Association of Students of Architecture@ ZONAL NASA CONVENTION ‘19 anes A.N.U.C.AP URBAN EUPHORIA DESIGN TROPHY 1 Rapid urbanisation coupled with the desire for an improved lifestyle has led to an exodus of the suburban populous and ultimately large migration into cities. This influx has led to an exponentially unviable model of consumption that has put the planet's resources under immense strain The definition of a city has constantly evolved throughout history. The urban populace today can be summarised as those who are able to own surplus single-use spaces. These spaces serve merely to house objects and those that survive on the fringes = inhabiting the smallest niches possible. Capitalism has dictated a consumer culture of unrestricted individual consumption. Overconsumption of this nature ultimately leads to the fragmentation of societal structures. The goal is to address this divide and design a future that nurtures better interpersonal relationships while solving issues such as food scarcity, utility management and energy conservation. As designers, our goal should be to ideate broad-level solutions that imagine a new-age pattern of living and to aim for maximum efficiency within a given area, while considering the social, financial and environmental impacts. To arrive at this new model of living, a thorough understanding of the existing living conditions of the diaspora is given. The idea is not to envision imaginal product for a utopia but to design object, unit and/or system that is rooted in the tangible. “Every problem has in it the seeds of its own solution. If you don't have any problems, you don't get any seeds." - Norman Vincent Peale It is imperative that the design intervention is buoyant and cater to the sizeable growth of the population and present urban senrio, while still considering the multitude of adverse impact mass production has on urban environment with a modular approach JUDGEMENT CRITERIA: * Interpretation of the brief and understanding the design theme + Problem definition. * Innovation, functionality and usability of design: * Articulation of the designed object, unit, and/or system. + Feosibility to mass produce the modular solution DESIGN GUIDELINES: * An understatding of the brief, must lead to crisis or crises; of one’s own frutition. * The design solution must be formulated, which can replicate or used in different scenarios to create a faster and streamlined impact over a radius of 0.5km: * Consideration must be given to the adverse impact mass production has on the urban environment. (Max. 6 shoots) * A report with supporting documentation such as data analysis & concept ideation. max.15 A4Pages) * Mentioning of college details or other modes of establishing an identity on the sheet or in the report will lead to immediate disqualification. * All sheets must clearly have ZNC-2019 mentioned and sheets must be numbered. * The formats of the sheets will be mailed by host college to all the participants. + Hard copy should be submitted on Day-0 at registration desk. * A soft copy of sheets (In case of manual render, sheet should be scanned at 300*300 dpi resolution) and report should be submitted in .pdf and editable format files in o USB drive with entry code as file name and college code as folder name, (GENERAL GUIDELINES: = Maximum of two entries from one institute is permitted. * Late submission will not be entertained * The host college will not be responsible for any damage caused to the sheets/report.
