Smart India Hackathon 2020

Problem Statements

SOFTWARE BASED

1. NYICS Attendance App (DK1)

Requirement for solution : • NYKS has 623 district offices and 29 state
offices across the country. • NYKS needs of software by which NYKS may
take the attendance of the officers working in these districts and States. • The
Mobile should collect the attendance based on the location of the officer through
GPS system / Geo-Location System and voice recognition or • The software
should collect the attendance based on landline telephone number and voice
recognition

2. Visual Dashboard for the Airport facilities

A web application is required that is capable of projecting analysed data through

visual tools like bar graphs, pie charts etc on a web dashboard. Airports facilities
includes Arrival baggage belts, boarding gates, Parking Stands, Trolleys etc. The
application must have a separate API to have a visual representation of the
analysed data which can be integrated with any other web/desktop application.
Project intents to achieve the following objectives: • Classification of data based
on the nature of facility used by a passenger and available facility

3. Design - Personal Aerial Vehicle

Are Traffic Jams a big problem in India? Can we think an out of the box solution
to solve this and make commuting an easy accessible to everyone. Here is an
opportunity for you to think Innovative and Design a “Personal Air Vehicle (PAV)”
Abstract: A Personal Air Vehicle (PAV), also Personal Aerial Vehicle, is an
emergent aviation market that would provide on-demand aviation services. This
term was first used by NASA in 2003 when it established the Personal Air
Vehicle Sector Project, as part of the Aeronautics Vehicle Systems Program. In
the current situation where most of the population moving towards Metro cities,
traffic management has become most critical issue. Stepping ahead from the
current transport system, it is important to adopt emerging technologies for newer
product innovation. Flying Vehicle or AirCAR, or Quadcopter could be ideal
solution for future generation. What we are seeking is an “everyone” personal
flying Vehicle, capable of being flown by ANYONE, ANYWHERE. It should be a
vehicle for ALL, young and old, city-dweller. Recent advances in propulsion,
energy, light-weight materials, and control and stability systems have combined
to produce a moment of achievable innovation. The vehicle should function
safely in both crowded cities and rural areas; it should be lightweight and
manoeuvrable enough so that anyone can move it around. Digital Design Output:
Design a PAV using Autodesk Fusion 360 Software (Free for education &
Students) system to enable movement of such vehicles safely in the air traffic by
allocating paths, height. The system should additionally provide methods to raise
and manage SOS calls. The Design should pass through all the below mentioned
phases - Ideation/Conceptualization- Freeform digital modelling -
Modelling/Designing- 3D solid Digital model on Fusion 360 - Simulation
and Analysis- should be capable to carry 2 persons which is 120 Kg min -
Rendering and Animation- Apply colour, lights, background to share
aesthetic image of your model. Reference: 1.

4. AWS Alexa
Alexa is Amazon’s cloud based voice service, that helps users interact with
brands, data, and business logic through voice. Use Alexa to innovate, and build
the next generation of interfaces for tourists in India. Your solution should help
solve pain points of tourists coming to India like - voice forums to crowd source
destination reviews, GPS based voice navigators to guide tourists at historical
sites, SOS and emergency support solutions for local and international travelers,
travel guides with entry prerequisites, government policies, visa needs, and
recommendations on seasons to visit. The Alexa based solution should be
intuitive to use also cater to the physically challenged travelers in India.

HARDWARE BASED
1. Soldier’s Strap
The soldier strap will be given to soldiers and it will have the following
functionality. 1) GPS location of the soldier. 2) Will monitor and record maximum
number of vital body parameters. 3) SoS facility. 4) Sufficient Battery Life. 5)
Should support location timeline. Security becomes very important in such
straps. Such a strap should transfer information by using a MANET-type
communication system. It should access public network only when no node is
available in the immediate vicinity and only in case of emergency.

2. Light Conservation
India has vast length of roads within cities, towns and villages. Also connected to
them are the national highways (total length of national highways being about 1.3
million km). Most of the streets are illuminated from evening to morning
averaging about 12 hours per day within the habitations. It is well understood that
some of the streets may not have vehicles or even pedestrians passing through
them throughout the night. In such scenarios there is wastage of electrical energy
for illumination of streets. Smart street light management would mean that
sensors can sense a movement in an area and switch on the lights before the
vehicle or pedestrian passes by and switch it off during no movement thus saving
electrical energy.

3. Automated Attendance
Design a small display board for displaying the number of students present
during the first period. The class teacher locks the number and later others
teachers can check the display for verification. Design a hardware based solution
using cameras that captures entry and exit of students in a classroom.
Additionally it should have the ability to count the number of students in the class
periodically.

4. Landslide Monitoring
The risk of landslides is increasing everyday due to large investments in
infrastructure and ever increasing human habitation in moderate to high hazard
mountainous region due to strategic as well as socio-economic reasons. Thus
landslide hazard mitigation has emerged as one of the top-most priorities of the
country. Design a drone or bot which can be remotely accessed to access the
situation of a landslide that has taken place in areas that are beyond human
reach. The bot should either have real time feed or recordings.
