2 Programming the MTCO 1390 / TSU 1391

Preface

Dear user,

progressive technology and high quality of the testing devices

is guaranteed by continuous further development.

The performance range of the testing device

• CTC 1602.21
has been extended by the initialisation, programming and in-
spection of the Modular Tachograph MTCO 1390 as well as
the Tachometer Simulator Unit TSU 1391.

Purpose of this This documentation, BA00.1602.21 600 300, serves as a sup-

Description plement to the existing operating instructions and describes
the proper execution of the initialisation, programming and
inspection of the MTCO 1390 and the TSU 1391.

Since the procedure corresponds to that for the device type

MTCO 1324, only operating steps which deviate from the nor-
mal procedure will be described in detail.

In the following the CTC 1602.21 will be referred to by the ab-

NOTE breviation CTC.

This documentation only applies when used with the operat-

CAUTION ing instructions CTC 1602.21, BA00.1602.21 1xx 300.

MTCO1390

Chapter 1 MTCO 1390

The Modular Tachograph MTCO 1390 has been designed for

vehicles for which the recording of speed and the driving
times is required by national regulations.

The MTCO 1390 records the vehicle speed, the distance trav-
elled and the driving and stationary times of the vehicle.

1.1 Measurement preparations

Fig. 1: MTCO 1390 testing and programming interface

Connect the MTCO 1390, just like the device type MTCO 1324,
to the test device via the test and programming interface (1).

For detailed information concerning the measurement prepa-

NOTE rations please refer to the operating instructions CTC 1602.21,
BA00.1602.21 1xx 300.

1.3 Measuring and testing procedures

1.3 Measuring and testing procedures

For the test certificate and the programming of the tacho-

graph you have to determine and save the values "w"= travel
pulse count and "k"= device constant.

Carry out the measuring and testing procedures in the same

way as for the device type MTCO 1324.

For detailed information concerning the measuring and test-

NOTE ing procedures please refer to the operating instructions
CTC 1602.21, BA00.1602.21 1xx 300.

1.4 Device testing

With the CTC you can test the following functions of the
MTCO 1390:
• Speed test
• Odometer test
• Test chart (without recording of the working times)
• Variable speed
• Clock test

Carry out the device testing in the same way as for the device
type MTCO 1324.

For detailed information concerning the device testing please

NOTE refer to the operating instructions CTC 1602.21,
BA00.1602.21 1xx 300.

1.5.4 Rpm recording (limit values for the rpm ranges)

For the 7 day device, the rpm ranges will be recorded on the
front side of the chart.

Example The following limit values for the rpm recording have been
programmed into the MTCO 1390 ex works::
• Lower limit: 900 [min-1]
• Upper limit: 1400 [min-1]

The following rpm ranges result from these programmed limit

values::

Range 1: 0 - 899 [min-1]

Range 2: 900 - 1399 [min-1]

Range 3: above 1400 [min-1]

When entering the limit values for the rpm recording, the val-
NOTE ue for the upper limit (HIGH LIMIT) must exceed the value for
the lower limit (LOW LIMIT).

Chapter 2 TSU 1391

The Tachometer Simulator Unit TSU 1391 is the interface be-

tween the pulse generator and the instruments within the ve-
hicle. Via the CAN bus, the TSU 1391 provides data for
displaying the speed, the distance travelled as well as the time
and date.
