- International students who have completed entire 16 years primary, secondary, and university education outside
of Korea (plus graduate education for Ph. D course applicants)
- Foreign nationality of both parents is not required

a. Applicants who acquired Korean language proficiency test (TOPIK) level 3 or higher
- In order to enter the degree program for Fall semester, 2019, applicants without TOPIK level 3 must submit their
score by June 28th, 2019 (Fri)
- Only valid language proficiency tests are accepted

General b. Applicants who acquired official English language proficiency test score

2. Each department has different admission process so please refer to the table above.
3. Telephone Interview is only available for overseas applicants who are unable to attend the onsite interview in Korea due to unavoidable
circumstances such as visa. Please note that not all departments provides Telephone interview. (Applicants staying in Korea are not allowed
telephone interview)
4. Some departments do not need to submit language proficiency test scores for the admission. However all students must submit language
scores in order to meet graduation requirements.
5. Korean Language & Literature : Portfolio is limited to the applying major-related report, thesis, and creative work 【5 poems, 1 for other works
such as novel/play/scenario】
6. Fine Arts : Interview + Portfolio (must bring portfolio at the interview)
( Ph. D. Applicants must bring a Master’s degree thesis or an academic essay at the interview ).

Instructions for Applicants
1. Documents Submission and Application
a. In principle, all documents submitted must be original. If a copy of the original is submitted due to unavoidable
circumstances, the copy must be compared with the original at the Center for International Students before submission.
b. Dongguk University is not responsible for possible disadvantages from lacking required documents or incomplete
paperwork. If the applicant fails to submit the required documents which affects admission status, he/she will be
disqualified without further notice.
c. If any information on the application form or other submitted documents are found to be false, or if the applicant uses
unfair means to obtain admission, the application will be automatically disqualified. Cancellation of admission after the
first day of school, tuition fee will be refunded based on the refund policy of the graduate school.
d. Those who are registered in another university and earned two degrees at the same time will be expelled. (based on
the graduate school regulation 50, line 3)
e. Notarized copy is valid for 12 months from the start day of application. (Issued after May 10th, 2018). Notarized copies
t hat are replacing any original documents must be a ‘true copy’ notarization. Translation notarized documents
cannot be accepted as a ‘true copy’ notarization.
f. Admission will be cancelled if an applicant cannot stay in Korea legally due to disapproval of visa type change or visa
extension according to the regulation of the immigration office.
g. Change or cancellation of the application is not allowed after the application period.
h. Application fee will not be refunded after the online registration period. However, partial or full amount may be
refunded under unavoidable circumstances such as erroneous payment, natural disaster, fail to meet the quorum, and
change of application period after application starts, other than applicant’s mistakes
i. Applicants must use their passport picture for application.
j. Do not send original documents that are hard to re-issue by post. University doesn't take responsibility for loss of
missing documents. (ex. Hokoubu, graduation certificate, etc)
k. Submitted documents will not be returned.

2. Nationality
a. Applicants with dual nationality or stateless status are not eligible to apply. (Applicable to applicant and applicant’s
both parents)
b. For those who did not acquire non-Korean nationality at birth, applicants and applicant’s parents must have obtained
current non-Korean citizenship at least 2 years prior to this application

3. Submission of TOPIK or Official English language proficiency test score


a. International graduate students must submit either TOPIK score lever 3 or higher or official English language
proficiency test score.(Score over PBT 530, CBT 197, iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2 or TEPS 600)

Exception: Following departments do not require TOPIK or official English language proficiency test score;
College of Natural Science (all departments), College of Life Science and Biotechnology (all departments), College of
Engineering (Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Civil Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architectural
Engineering, Architecture, Multimedia Engineering, Energy & Materials Engineering, Technology Entrepreneurship, New
& Renewable Energy, and Convergence Standards), College of Pharmacy (all departments), College of Oriental Medicine
(all departments), College of Medicine (all department), Nano Information Technology Academy (all departments)

b. Only valid language proficiency tests are accepted.


Language proficiency test result which is expired before the start date of application will not be accepted.

* If there are any unsubmission documents for admission, certificate issuance is not acceptable.

2. Application for D-2 VISA


a. A
 pplicants staying in Korea : Students must visit the immigration office to apply for visa status change (It
must be done by August 30th, 2019)

Health insurance or other private insurance), please submit a copy of insurance certificate to the Center for
