1. Knowledge about the major, aptitude, study plan, foreign language proficiency and other factors set by each department will be evaluated.
2. Each department has different admission process so please refer to the table above.
3. Telephone Interview is only available for overseas applicants who are unable to attend the onsite interview in Korea due to unavoidable
circumstances such as visa. Please note that not all departments provides Telephone interview. (Applicants staying in Korea are not allowed
telephone interview)
4. Some departments do not need to submit language proficiency test scores for the admission. However all students must submit language
scores in order to meet graduation requirements.
5. Korean Language & Literature : Portfolio is limited to the applying major-related report, thesis, and creative work 【5 poems, 1 for other works
such as novel/play/scenario】
6. Fine Arts : Interview + Portfolio (must bring portfolio at the interview)
( Ph. D. Applicants must bring a Master’s degree thesis or an academic essay at the interview ).

□ Applicants who submitted expected graduation certificate at the time of application must submit their Official Graduation Certificate and Degree by August 30th, 2019(Fri) . Otherwise, admission will be cancelled.
□ Applicants from overseas universities/graduates schools (except Chinese institutions) must check the name of the school from the “World Higher Education Database Portal (WHED)” of IAU (International
Association of Universities), UNESCO before application. If the school is not listed on that list or english name is different, applicants must submit a certificate issued by the Korean Embassy in their home country,
which verifies the school is a legal institution. (Link to the list: http://www.whed.net/home.php → World Higher Education Map)
□ Applicants who graduated from overseas universities/graduate schools(overseas countries other than China), they must obtain an Apostille or an official endorsement from the embassy in the applicant’s country
of Korea or embassy of a applicant’s country in Korea on their certificate of graduation and transcript. (with complete marks printed on the transcript)
□ Applicants from Chinese universities/graduate schools must submit an academic verification certificate issued by the 「中国学位与研究生教育信息网(学位网)」.

② Issuance of academic verification certificate takes more than 30 days. If the document cannot be submitted on the day of documents submission, it must be submitted before the first day of school to the Center for
International Students.

Instructions for Applicants
1. Documents Submission and Application
a. In principle, all documents submitted must be original. If a copy of the original is submitted due to unavoidable
circumstances, the copy must be compared with the original at the Center for International Students before submission.
b. Dongguk University is not responsible for possible disadvantages from lacking required documents or incomplete
paperwork. If the applicant fails to submit the required documents which affects admission status, he/she will be
disqualified without further notice.
c. If any information on the application form or other submitted documents are found to be false, or if the applicant uses
unfair means to obtain admission, the application will be automatically disqualified. Cancellation of admission after the
first day of school, tuition fee will be refunded based on the refund policy of the graduate school.
d. Those who are registered in another university and earned two degrees at the same time will be expelled. (based on
the graduate school regulation 50, line 3)
e. Notarized copy is valid for 12 months from the start day of application. (Issued after May 10th, 2018). Notarized copies
t hat are replacing any original documents must be a ‘true copy’ notarization. Translation notarized documents
cannot be accepted as a ‘true copy’ notarization.
f. Admission will be cancelled if an applicant cannot stay in Korea legally due to disapproval of visa type change or visa
extension according to the regulation of the immigration office.
g. Change or cancellation of the application is not allowed after the application period.
h. Application fee will not be refunded after the online registration period. However, partial or full amount may be
refunded under unavoidable circumstances such as erroneous payment, natural disaster, fail to meet the quorum, and
change of application period after application starts, other than applicant’s mistakes
i. Applicants must use their passport picture for application.
j. Do not send original documents that are hard to re-issue by post. University doesn't take responsibility for loss of
missing documents. (ex. Hokoubu, graduation certificate, etc)
k. Submitted documents will not be returned.
2. Nationality
a. Applicants with dual nationality or stateless status are not eligible to apply. (Applicable to applicant and applicant’s
both parents)
b. For those who did not acquire non-Korean nationality at birth, applicants and applicant’s parents must have obtained
current non-Korean citizenship at least 2 years prior to this application
Exception: Following departments do not require TOPIK or official English language proficiency test score;
College of Natural Science (all departments), College of Life Science and Biotechnology (all departments), College of
Engineering (Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Civil Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architectural

a. Health insurance is obligatory for every international student who is admitted to Dongguk University. (KRW
44,900 per semester / Based on 2019)
b. H ow to join : Pay the insurance fee with tuition during the registration period (No application needed)
c. Application for insurance exemption : Ones, who are joining other insurance plans (e.g. Korean National
Health insurance or other private insurance), please submit a copy of insurance certificate to the Center for
International Students before the registration period to opt-out.
