Members of the class were assigned an elder to talk and share with them the
elder’s life experiences and how they ended in the home care. Obviously, from
the looks on their faces, the 10 elders were delighted to see people from the
outside visiting them. Most of them started shedding tears as they tell their stories;
kissing and embracing the students tightly. From their stories, most of them were
abandoned by their families. They have no one. They cried in misery but they

After the said presentation, the first set of group reflection were given by a number
of students who were able to talk and share with the elders. With the permission
of the elders, the students talked about their life, family, love and feelings of being

POST ACTIVITY
BSEU Class A was excited to share their experiences through their written reflection
attached here. The elders definitely touched the hearts of all the participants with
their sad but meaningful and inspiring stories. Beside the academic requirements,
the most important lessons learned from this activity is to love and care for the
people who once cared for us ---our parents and the elders. Mostly, members of
the class have their personal action taken to help and spread the news of the
The activity served as a reminder to all of us of what God has commanded us:
Honor your father and your mother. The elders were once children who had
journeyed through life and became parents and guardians for those who needed
guidance, protection and love. But unfortunately, they were abandoned by the
same people whom they had taken care of. The dusk of life looms over them,
hoping that they might see their family and love ones once again.
On the other hand, students of BSE Uniting Class A are grateful to the school for
initiating activities like this through its Community Extension Services Program. The
values and advocacy inculcated in the minds and hearts of the students will truly
serve God above all through helping the poor, depressed and underserved like
these abandoned elders. It is the hope of the class that these endeavors will
continue and as they go their separate path shall continue such advocacy.
supportive, active and understanding dean of the College of Education, Dr. Ivy
Dr. Judith dela Cruz and Dr. Mabini Bahido. The activity likewise bonded all the
members of the class. They had learned to work, compromise and cooperate
with one another. Gratitude is likewise extended to Ladies of Charity – Home for
the Aged especially to the warm welcome and accommodation of the staff and
of course to the ten (10) amazing women who have fully lived their lives with faith,
hope and love despite the absence and care of their true family. With the home
care and the visitors and guests visiting them, they have found the home, love
and care. God is truly good for He allowed us to understand human life through
example. May He continue to bless the elders with His faithfulness, love and
mercy.
To sum up, the activity was undertaken with simplicity but was carried out
successfully. It was organized well and it went smoothly. The class departed at
