Drift Suppression

When measuring scanned proton and heavy ions

beams the dose rate to be measured occurs during
the short spot time of radiation at each individual
chamber. The leakage current that exists during the
remaining measuring time will be accumulated and
thus will distort the dose value to be measured.

In order to avoid this effect a threshold can be ad-

justed in the initialization file of the software Matrix-
Scan (refer to Figure 7). Only values exceeding this
threshold will be considered during dose integra-
tion. Please mind the following:
− The threshold should be twice the maximum
noise and is has to be converted on the basis of
the adjusted interval time (refer to the following
example).
− The threshold has to be entered in Gy. Figure 7: Initialization file of MatrixScan

− Default setting: 0
i.e. no threshold adjusted

Example:
maximum Noise = 80 mGy/min
→ threshold = 160 mGy/min
Interval time = 400 ms
The threshold to enter in the initialization file is:
160 mGy
• 0,4 s = 0,0010667 Gy
60 s

• First of all, disconnect the devices from the

power line, before attempting to clean the device
surfaces.

• Rub the devices down with a dry or slightly moist

cloth. For this purpose use a mild soap solution.
Do not let liquid enter the devices. Do not apply
spray to the devices. The connector contacts
must be kept clean and dry. The devices cannot
be sterilized or disinfected.

The device surfaces are resistant to the following

disinfectants:
− KORSOLIN (2 %) or
− SOKRENA (1 %, aqueous solution)

Connection Cables 6 Preventive Maintenance

Clean the cables as follows:
Check before each use
• disconnect the cables from the devices, pulling
on the plug, not on the cable • Before each use, visually inspect the device and
the cables for signs of mechanical damage
• for cleaning, rub the cables down with a cloth
moistened with soap water or with disinfectant • If damages or malfunctions are identified, the
device must be repaired before it is used again.
• never immerse the cable in liquid!
Calibration
Connectors
Check the absolute calibration of 2D-ARRAYXDR
Do not immerse the connectors in liquids! Do not let together with the ARRAY INTERFACEXDR regularly
liquid enter the connectors. and execute a new absolute calibration if necessary
(refer to section 2.1).
The connectors must not become dirty. Clean the
connectors only with a soft brush. Do not blow into Technical Inspection of the Measuring System
the connectors.
The 2D-ARRAYXDR must be inspected at regular
intervals according to national regulations at
PTW-Freiburg or a qualified calibration laboratory.

These inspections must also be performed after

repairs or after each influence which may have
changed the behavior of the device.

The 2D-ARRAYXDR does not require any other,

regular maintenance measures.

from the rear of the device (refer to Figure 3). with the applicable waste control regulations.

To replace the fuses proceed as follows: The different materials must be separated and re-
cycled as appropriate.
• Switch the ARRAY INTERFACEXDR off and dis-
connect it from the power line. The 2D-ARRAYXDR does not contain hazardous
materials.
• Disconnect the power cord from the ARRAY
INTERFACEXDR. The electronic components must be recycled ac-
cording to local regulations.
• Lift the locking clip on the fuse holder using a
small screwdriver and remove the fuse holder. The cost for an potential return at the end of the
product life time is to be borne by the customer.
• Replace the fuses.

• Reinsert the fuse holder and reconnect the po-

wer cord.

The following product pollution control information is provided according to SJ/T11364-2006 Marking for Control
of Pollution caused by Electronic Information Products.

根据SJ/T11364-2006标准规定的《电子信息产品污染控制标识要求》特提供以下有关产品污染控制方面的信息。

1. Explanation of Pollution Control Label

污染控制标识说明

This symbol indicates the product contains hazardous materials in excess of the limits estab-
lished by the Chinese standard SJ/T11363-2006 Requirements for Concentration Limits for Cer-
tain Hazardous Substances in Electronic Information Products. The number in the symbol is the
Environment-friendly Use Period (EFUP), which indicates the period during which the toxic or
hazardous substances or elements contained in electronic information products will not leak or
mutate under normal operating conditions so that the use of such electronic information products
will not result in any severe environmental pollution, any bodily injury or damage to any assets.
The unit of the period is “Year”.
In order to maintain the declared EFUP, the product shall be operated normally according to the
instructions and environmental conditions as defined in the product manual, and periodic mainte-
nance schedules specified in Product Maintenance Procedures shall be followed strictly.
Consumables or certain parts may have their own label with an EFUP value less than the prod-
uct. Periodic replacement of those consumables or parts to maintain the declared EFUP shall be
done in accordance with the Product Maintenance Procedures.
This product must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste, and must be collected sepa-
rately and handled properly after decommissioning.
