Transmission—System Check

The following tests represent a step-by-step approach to

troubleshoo ng. Proceeding from the opera onal checks , the
purpose of these tables is to help locate faults in the transmission
circuit and power train.
These tests must be carried out when power train elements fail to
operate or operate too slowly, when the hydraulic oil overheats
and whenever major repairs have been carried out on the power
train elements.
Faults in the transmission circuit involve: transmission oil pump,
power train elements, valves, oil cooler, and transmission
lubrica on.
The results of the tests should be recorded in the test result table.

  1   Precondi ons for proper system checking procedure

• Adjust system (engagement) pressure if it is not within

• If system pressure cannot be adjusted properly, check the
components that are dependent on system pressure.
• Also, before checking or recondi oning the transmission oil
pump, check the primary filter screen in the differen al
housing for blockage, and check the rate of flow at the
transmission oil pump.

•If the flow rate drops too much when any of these systems
are switched on or off, there must be excessive leakage in the
system affected; the relevant system must be checked.
•If the rate of flow is s ll not to specifica on even a er the
systems have been checked, check the primary filter screen in
the differen al housing for blockage before checking or
recondi oning the transmission oil pump.
