The Present Simple (also called the Simple Present) verb tense is very common in the English
language, so it’s important to understand it well.
This post will show you how to use the Present Simple. To see how to form the Present Simple,

1. Present Simple is used to talk about activities that happen repeatedly and things that we do
regularly, such as habits and routines. Adverbs of frequency are often used with the Present
Simple.
2. Secondly, we use the Present Simple to talk about factual information, such as general truths,
scientific facts, or definitions.
3. We also use the Present Simple with stative verbs (non-action verbs) to talk about states or
conditions, such as physical descriptions, feelings, relationships, knowledge, beliefs or
possession.
4. We use the Present Simple to describe situations that are more or less permanent. (If a
situation is new or temporary, use the Present Continuous)
6. We use the Present Simple to talk about what happens in books, movies, and plays.
A young woman travels through Europe, where she meets different people, and
finally falls in love.
In this book, the hero saves the princess and marries her.
The main character is very pretty and works at a café.
7. Future schedules, timetables, and fixed plans are expressed with the Present Simple, usually
when they are set by an organization, not by us.
8. And lastly, we also use it to talk about the future after words such as “when”, “until”,
“before”, “after”, and “as soon as”.
An important way to use the present continuous tense is when we refer to actions or situations
that are happening now, at this moment.
These actions / situations began before now and will continue after now, but they’re temporary
(not permanent situations) and are not expected to continue for a long time. Present continuous
now at this moment
Examples:
John’s driving his father’s car while his own car is in the workshop.
(He won’t need his father’s car after his car has been repaired).
They’re temporarily living with his Uncle Fred. They’ll stay there until they find an apartment.
Julia’s working in Chicago this month (but she will be back in her office in LA next month).
I’m studying in Berlin this year
(but I will return to my language studies in Cambridge at the end of the year).
Aisha’s currently improving her English, but she hopes to be able to enter the university in the
USA soon.
The time, in sentences such as those above, may be a week, a month, a year, or even longer.
What’s important is that the action or situation is not expected to be permanent:

Present Continuous - situasi sementara
AS.
Waktu, dalam kalimat seperti yang di atas, mungkin seminggu, sebulan, setahun, atau bahkan lebih
lama. Yang penting adalah tindakan atau situasi tidak diharapkan permanen:
alih-alih, ini bersifat sementara dan diharapkan akan berubah.

Frasa waktu berikut ini umum digunakan untuk penggunaan
present continuous tense:
• untuk saat ini
• sementara
• saat ini
• ini_ (minggu, bulan, tahun dll) ____
Contoh:
• Kami saat ini bepergian di sekitar Australia
(tapi kami tidak akan tinggal di sana selamanya).
• Temporarilyliving Maria dengan orang tuanya (tetapi dia berencana untuk melakukannya
segera pindah ke tempatnya sendiri).
• Dia naik kereta ke universitas untuk saat ini (tetapi akan
masuk mobil bersama teman sekelasnya sesegera mungkin).
