Preface

This document is developed for Basic of Step-7 user or learner. Before reading this document
user or learner must have basic knowledge of SIMENS PLC & its architecture. User of this
document should have sufficient knowledge about SIEMES PLC programing and should be
familiar with STEP7 programing software.

The document is prepared in reference to the Siemens standard manuals & literatures and
practical experience. Snap shots used in this manual are taken from real time software Step7 V5.5
+ SP2.
Pictures & screen shots used in this document is from an example project which may vary from
user actual program.

1. Getting Started
1.1 Creating a project
Step1: Open the STEP-7.
Step2: Go to file and click on NEW to create a new project.

Step3: Enter the name of the project & select the desired location.

1.2 How to Insert Station

Step1: After creating a project, now insert a new object by right click on project and insert a
Hardware object.

Step2: After Inserting the Siamtic H Station, Click on Siamtic H Station.

Step3: To open Hardwre Configuration, Click on Hardware.

2. Hardware Configuration.
2.1 Inserting the Objects.
Step1: First Insert the Rack as required with the reguired MLFB no.

Step2: Insert Power Supply as required with the reguired MLFB no.

Step3: Now Insert the CPU as required with the reguired MLFB no.

Step4: Insert the CP card, Insert the MAC Address & IP Address.

Step5: Click on New to add a Subnet, Select the Ethernet(1) & Press Ok.

Step6: Create new profibus DP subnet.

Step7: Select DP master address & network speed by (default 1.5 mbps).

Step8: Repeat the step for redundant CPU in case of H system.

Step9: Insert Interface module for IO communication IM.

Step10: Inserting the I/O modules in the in the IM Rack.

Step11: Select the I/O Module as per MLFB no. required, drag and Drop the module.

Step12: Change Analog I/O type click on object properties of analog module. Change type.

Step13: Insert other modules except standard I/O module.

2.2 Downloading the Hardwre Configuration

Step1: Select the CPU in which you want to download and Presse the download button in
toolbar..

Step2: Select the CPU in which you want to download and Press OK.

Step3: Click on Update, Select the CPU and Press OK.

3. Create a new block in step7

Step1: Select the Block, Right Click on mouse Insert New Object, Select Function Block.

Step2: Give the Symbolic Name & Symbolic comment.
