Make all necessary adjustments to the system to ensure that correct water
quantities are circulated throughout the system.
All water used for testing water supply lines, tanks and other accessories shall
be obtained from main water supply. The contractor shall be deemed to have
included in his prices for water, temporary pumps, rising mains, gauges, etc.
for water testing the installation.
2. PAINTING
All paint and/or painting material shall comply with the requirements of the
British Standard Codes appropriate for such materials.
Materials not complying with the Codes or other standards specified will be
rejected and shall be removed from the premises at the contractor's expense.
The contractor, if and when called upon to do so, shall supply a certificate from
the material manufacturer confirming that the material conforms to the code
specified.
The ground colours shall be supplied to pipework throughout the entire length.

The Contractor shall paint the valve handwheels. Handwheels shall be painted
GREEN if normally opened and RED if normally closed.
All supporting brackets shall be cleaned and thoroughly coated with black
bitumastic paint. Where exposed in plantrooms, supports shall be primed and
given two (2) coats of gloss finish paint similar to the pipework.
3. LABELING
All pipework and equipment for the complex shall be identified with approved
labels. Directional arrows shall be provided on the pipework in plantrooms and
vertical risers indicating the direction of flow.
Letters are to be generally 1-1/2" (40 mm) high to suit the pipe diameter.
Prior to plant trials and final testing, each piece of equipment individually, and
each completed system as a whole, shall be checked and adjustments made for
their respective duties.
All water supply and circulating systems shall be cleaned, adjusted and
balanced so that water quantities delivered and circulated are as specified.
5. TAKING OVER
After the satisfactory testing, disinfecting and flushing out of the sanitary and
plumbing system, the contractor shall put the system under full working
conditions and carry out flow tests in the presence of the Architect/Engineer or
his representative over a period of two (2) weeks in order to prove that the system
and all its fittings are working satisfactorily. Should any portion of the system
or any fitting prove defective, the contractor shall quickly make good the
defects and the test shall be repeated for another period of two (2) weeks all
at the contractor's expense.
