I am writing this letter to request information about the patient admissions for cases of depression
and schizophrenia confined under the Psychiatric Department in the year 2018. Rest assured we
are only referring to statistical data for the number of male and female patients admitted in the said
department, and do not require any personal information regarding your patients.

Our class is currently writing a research paper for our subject Language and Gender in the
University of the Cordilleras. As the course suggests, we learn how men and women communicate
and how these differences affect their roles in society. We believe that gender norms and obligation
influence how different genders communicate, and that communicability also affects their mental
state and well-being.

As such, data from your facility will greatly help us to understand the effects of gender roles and
language usage on the have human psyche.
