1 Can you start by telling us a bit about yourself?

 I have 2 years experience in networking and system. I am currently working part


time at Melbourne Chinese Media. My main duty there includes managing
servers and dns using aws platform, troubleshooting network and repair of
network related issues. I also have experience in securing and performing

 I feel that my current experience makes me an excellent match for the job
requirements. Also, the role excites me because Dufry is a worldwide company
where I can work with people who is much better than me so I can learn a lot

3 Can you please tell me more about your exposure in network infrastructure?

4 What is your understanding and experience in the POS environment?

 PoS (Point-of-Sale, or Point of Service). The term is applicable to a retail shop


or store, the checkout/cashier counter in the store, or a location where such
transactions can occur in this type of environment. In the case of some locations,
with wireless capable systems or network wired via TCP/IP

6 Tell me one of your difficult customers in your experience. How did you deal with
her/him?

 During my project at Monash university, we have to build a website which


provides information for newcomers about sun exposure. We came to an

almost completed all the functions, the customer suddenly changed his mind. He
wanted to add and remove some of the functions because he thought it would be
good for his website. I explained to him that we could not change it because we

worst case, we could not make the website running. Instead of doing that, how
about keeping our current functions to make sure we meet the deadline and we
can change it later on. Our customer agreed with that and it ended up being a

7 How have you been effective at explaining complicated technical challenges with
someone who doesn't have a technical background?

 I faced that challenge with my current manager. Our website had been attacked
and servers were down. The consequences resulting in our customer not being
able to connect to our website and leading to the loss of profit. I talked to the
manager that our website is using HTTP, which is not secure. We need to
upgrade it to HTTPS to prevent any attacks in the future. Because the manager
does not have any technical background, I explained to him that by upgrading,
it would not only help his business run more smoothly but also help me doing

8 Tell me about a time where you have failed to configure a network issue, what
happened and what were your actions to resolve the matter?

their managing style appealed to you?
 I have had the opportunity to work with an excellent supervisor at PTV. I have
always been able to effectively communicate with him and he would often
acknowledge my hard work and dedication. He always spent time to explain
things if I don’t understand and also gave very constructive feedback when
needed, which I believe has helped me to further develop my skills.
 For the managing style, I love the way he communicated with our team member
to find out what were our advantages, disadvantages, to know more about us to
prevent any conflict. I believed communication is the most effective way to
manage a team.

10 Recall a time when your manager was unavailable when a problem arose. How did
you handle the situation? With whom did you consult?

11 Tell me about a time when you had to juggle several projects at once. How did you
organize your time? What was the result?

 During my last semester at Monash university, beside our main project, I had to
deal with 2 big group assignments. First of all, I would buckle down and figure
out the best approach to completing the tasks. I would start by organizing the
tasks from most important to least, and then I would begin working on the most
important task. If there were any tasks I could delegate to other capable
individuals, I would not be afraid to ask for assistance. Finally, I completed my

12 Tell me about the toughest work problem you had a hand in solving. How did you
do it? What was the proposed solution?

 During my internship at PTV, our supervisor suddenly wanted to change an


entire report a day before we present it to the manager. The client was unhappy
with my team’s first draft, so we were tasked with redoing the entire report. We
organized a late-night brainstorm that evening. This was challenging because it
was my first time working under time pressure and also our one chance to make
the supervisor happy again. I overcame this challenge by looking at previously

o First of all, I would collect a list of all tasks I need to do. Then I will I
identify which one is urgent and important. Next, I take a look at the

 How do you resolve conflicts at work?
o I always take the person aside and discuss the issue privately. I listen
actively to make sure I understand the other person’s point of view, and I
work with the person to develop a solution together.” Even if we both
don’t completely agree on the end result, at least I tried to have a halfway

o In my internship, my supervisor asked me to analyse given raw data,
which was something I’d never done before. I explained to him that I had
no experience about this but volunteered to do all of the work if someone
more experienced could offer guidance. I met with several employees
who had experience with data, studied best practices and successfully
analysing given raw data. Thanks to that hands-on learning experience, I

constantly was late to meetings and missed deadlines. He will slow the
team down and it was important to me to figure out what happened to

o Recently there was a time when I was giving presentation to my tutor

question for you. Despite the fact that he laughed I thought it had not
been received well. Then I went up and apologized to him and made it
clear that I had no disrespect for him and sometimes I just get

client or customer who complained about you. How did you fix the issue to
improve the relationship and resolve the situation?
 Give me an example of a time when you went above and beyond a specific

o In my current situation at Melbourne Chinese Media, my duty was
upgrading security of current server after being attacked. I have the
consent from my manager to apply HTTPS on webserver. But after
reconsider, I thought it was not enough. So I continued to convince my
manager to make some backup of current web server. This way, if there
are some serious problems happened, we can easily bring web server back
