1. CH 42 [ 44, 46, 48, 50 ]. SS into first st to form a ring.

Step 1. Create chain. Step 2. SC to end of round.

2. CH 1. Work first st into join: SC to end of round. SS.

Total Stitches: 42 [ 44, 46, 48, 50 ].

3. CH 1. SC into next st. SC into join.

* Skip 1. SC. SC back into skipped st.
Repeat * to end of round. SS to first st.
Total Stitches: 42 [ 44, 46, 48, 50 ].

Step 3. Skip 1, SC into next stitch. SC back into skipped stitch.

4. Repeat Step 3 for a total of 3 [ 3, 4, 4, 4 ] rounds.

A Headband can be made, repeating this step to desired width.
If making a Headband, SC last round. Fasten off.

5. CH 1. Work first st into join:

HDC to end of round. SS.

6. Repeat Step 5 for a total of 2 [ 4, 4, 4, 5 ] rounds.

7. CH 1. Work first st into join:

* HDC DEC every st. Repeat * to end of round. SS. Keep st's snug.
Total Stitches: 21 [ 22, 23, 24, 25 ].

Step 7. HDC DEC to end of round.

8. For Bun Hat:

Repeat Step 3. SS at end of round.
Odd number st's last segment will work into last st and SS at end of round.
Repeat for 1 more round. Fasten off.
Total Stitches: 21 [ 21, 23, 24, 25 ].

 Step 8. Bun Hat. Repeat Step 3 - 2 times. Fasten off.

9. For Regular Hat: CH 1. HDC DEC to end of round. SS. Keep st's snug.
9a. CH 1. DEC every st. SS. Fasten off. Weave tail through remaining st's.
Pull tight.

Step 9. Regular Hat. Decrease until top is closed. SS. Fasten off.
