MIPP - MILSP - IGCSE

Dear Parent/Guardian,

At the culmination of the academic session, we take this opportunity to congratulate you on the
promotion of your ward to the next class. We hope our mutual endeavour of producing learned
individuals imbibed with moral values has been accomplished.

To enhance the students’ capacity of self expression, it is advised that during the vacations the students
should be encouraged to read extensively and also find some time to practice their mathematical
concepts.

Parents at home must allow their children to articulate their view points in standard English and
practice verbal communication. Such steps would prove beneficial in building a stronger language
base and prepare them for the next level. When parents provide learning experiences and academic
structure for their children over the summer, children have the advantage of maintaining basic skills
and are more likely to return to school ready to learn.

Parental involvement is very important in the academic success of children. I hope that you will enjoy
working with your child this summer. Together we can make a difference. Thank you for your
continued support!

We wish you all have an enjoyable summer break.

Sincerely,

Erum Atif

cycle as a whole. Use air tight transparent disposable plastic
container with removable lid and create mini water cycles by
adding a rock to represent a mountain, grass for the vegetation,
and a small pond made from aluminum foil and filled with water
(see the image). You need heat from sun to power up your mini
water cycle. As the water warms up, it evaporates and then
condenses on the inside of the plastic lid. The water then "rains" on the environment inside the
container and runs off to form little ponds. Expose your mini water cycle project to different conditions
for 1-2 hrs and record observations using table 4.1. Make sure the lid is closed when the project is
exposed to different weather conditions.

TORNADO IN BOTTLE
Learn how to make a tornado in a bottle with this fun science experiment for kids. Using easy to find
items such as dish washing liquid, water, glitter and a bottle you can make your own mini tornado that’s a
lot safer than one you might see on the weather channel. Follow the instructions and enjoy the cool
water vortex you create!

What you'll need:

Ÿ Water
Ÿ A clear plastic bottle with a cap (that won't leak)
Ÿ Glitter
Ÿ Dish washing liquid

Instructions:
Fill the plastic bottle with water until it reaches around three quarters full.
Add a few drops of dish washing liquid.
Sprinkle in a few pinches of glitter (this will make your tornado
easier to see).
Put the cap on tightly.

Turn the bottle upside down and hold it by the neck. Quickly spin
the bottle in a circular motion for a few seconds, stop and look
inside to see if you can see a mini tornado forming in the water. You
might need to try it a few times before you get it working properly.

What's happening?
Spinning the bottle in a circular motion creates a water vortex that
looks like a mini tornado. The water is rapidly spinning around the
center of the vortex due to centripetal force (an inward force
directing an object or fluid such as water towards the center of its
circular path). Vortexes found in nature include tornadoes,
hurricanes and waterspouts (a tornado that forms over water).

How to Make a Milk Carton Sailboat
What You'll Need
Quart-size milk carton, paint, paintbrush, craft knife, wood skewer, cork, yarn, duct tape, 2 plastic bottle
caps, paint, glue, craft knife

Make It
Ÿ Cut an oval-shaped hole on one side of the milk carton. Paint
the carton and let it dry.
Ÿ Poke a wood skewer through the carton, just above the hole.
Then poke the skewer into a cork and glue it to the inside
bottom of the carton.
Ÿ For the sail, cut six 12" pieces of duct tape and tape the pieces
together, overlapping about? ", lengthwise. They should look
like a sheet of tape.
Ÿ Fold the tape in half so the sticky sides adhere to one
another. Cut the resulting sheet into a triangle shape and
punch a small hole at the top and bottom to slip the sail onto
the skewer.
Ÿ Decorate the outside of the boat by gluing plastic caps to side of boat.
Ÿ Tie a length of yarn to the top of the skewer, coil it, and let it rest on the boat's "deck" to create rigging.
