What are the documents required for

Canada Dependent Visa?

Every year, hundreds and thousands of immigrants migrate to Canada. Sometimes, they need to
migrate alone leaving their families behind in other country. However, there are some countries like
Canada which facilitate the families of immigrants to live together. Dependent visa for Canada allows
every immigrant who is living in the country either on Canada PR visa or temporary visa to call their
family dependents to accompany them there.

Under the dependent visa, the following relations can be invited to Canada –

 Spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner

 Dependent (biological/adopted) children under 21 years of age without a spouse, common-law
partner, or conjugal partner and must be financially dependent on the parent
 Children aged 21 years or more who are unable to financially support them due to their physical
or mental health condition
 Parents or grandparents
 Adopted child
 Orphan brother or sister, nephew or niece, grandson or granddaughter aged less than 18 years
and without any spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner

Dependent visa is for sponsoring relatives to Canada just for stay; as if they are interested in studying
and working in Canada, they need to apply for study and Canada work permit separately.

Documents required for Canada dependent visa:

 Proof of relationship

Spouse: The Canadian government defines a spouse as an individual who has gone through a legal
process of marriage with you. You need to show a marriage certificate along with some photographs of
marriage as a proof of relationship for bringing spouse to Canada.

Common-law partner: Common-law partner is defined as an individual who has been living or has lived
with you in a marriage-like relationship for a minimum of one year. You need a signed salutatory
declaration stating that your relationship with your partner is genuine along with joint bank account
statement, or credit card statement involving the activity of both of you.

Conjugal partner: Your conjugal partner can be an individual who is living outside Canada with whom
you have a genuine relationship for at least one year. However, you both are not living as a couple due
to some reasons beyond your control like immigration barrier, social or religious barrier. For such a
partnership, you need to provide proof of relationship as well as conditions because of which you both
can’t live together.
Dependent biological child: a copy of birth certificate or documents entitling the name of the sponsor
as father or mother

Dependent adopted child: a copy of adoption papers

 Proof of funds or financial status:

Your financial status must be strong to ensure your capability to support the daily expenses of your
dependents after immigration to Canada. For that, you need to show financial status or cash flow for
previous one year through a copy of your salary slips, transaction records and investments during
Canada dependent visa process.

 Proof of permit in Canada:

If you are living in Canada on Canada work permit visa or study permit, then you need to provide a copy
of a permit

For sponsored person:
