You have been on a holiday abroad for a week.

Write a letter to your parents describing your

holiday so far.

Dear parents,

I hope this letter finds you in a good state! I have been in London with the english club for
almost a week and I feel wonderful!
As you already know, we have been accomodated at the Karma Hotel. It’s placed somewhere
outside the city, we make ten minutes by car to the center, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. The
view is gorgeous, a rich green field with small houses scattered all around it and from my window I
can always see the sunrise in all its beauty: when the purple and the orange paint the sky with the skill
of an artist. The rooms are very tiny and I was a bit shocked when I heard everyone will get a
roommate, I told myself “There’s no way two people can live there!”, but I had to face the reality like
everyone else. Fortunely, I share mine with Lynn, a girl from Germany that also joined the camp. She
is very friendly and talkative, you can’t really get bored while she’s there! We also got to know each
other better, our different cultures and ideas. I find it so fascinating, discovering new people that seem
so different to me but are not. We both like the same artists and she wants to be a nurse, I guess you
can sense people from your “field”, since I desire to become a doctor.
In the morning, we all gather in the dining room and enjoy the delicious food the chef had
prepared. I like the fact that they let us choose from common food, eggs, omelette or pancakes, but
also British traditional food, bangers and mash, English breakfast or sunday roast. I tried their food,
but I’m not a big fan. I find it too greasy and heavy, they make combinations that I’m not familiar with
and I rather not. After we ate, we wait for the bus to take us to the English Center, where all the classes
take place. After about five hours of intensive learning, we have lunch, the usual, many dishes we can
choose from. Also, we are always served tea and biscuits, even if it’s summer. Their tea is so very
different, so many new aromas I haven’t heard of and even the ones I know have a different, more
refined taste. I bought some for you to try too!
After lunch, we are free to roam the city and discover! Of course, supervised by a teacher. Me
and Lynn decided to join the group that wanted to see the big atractions of the city. We got to the
agency that made the tour and were headed to a double decker bus. We saw Big Ben, London Eye,
Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, Westminster Palace and The British Museum. I liked
the tour because we not only passed by these places, but the bus stopped and we could visit them as
well. My favourite was by far the London Eye, we really got to see London! There’s something
magical about seeing a city from above, a dreamy and surreal image that only you get to see, it gives
you a new perspective and makes you feel so much more entranced by what else could it hold.
I can’t wait to see you in two weeks, when I get home! I made lots of pictures and I even
bought some souvenirs. I didn’t forget about your collection of magnets, mom, so make space for a
new one! I miss you a lot and I also miss your brownies, they would count as the perfect “welcome
back” gift.

Lots of love,
Emily
