Light novels and gaming have proven to be ineffective on

distracting Jiang Muqing’s attention. Introducing my hobbies to her
not only took to little effect, but also induced horrible side effects.

Novels nearly made Jiang Muqing believe I was a madman, and

gaming was close to pulling out her violent side. Thankfully, I realized
the problems of these taming methods, and stopped before they
became too big to deal with.

Since my own hobbies weren’t her path to take, I’ll use others’
friendship to cure her.

….

The girl whom I still haven’t asked her name picked out a bra for
Jiang Muqing.

It was sky-blue, without any designs or special bits. The refreshing

color accentuated the shoujo’s natural beauty; this kind of young,
adolescent charm only appeared in girls her age. *

*Lu Fan is NOT a pedophile. The original Chinese raw didn’t make it
seem so weird, but my English translation came out pretty strange. If
Lu Fan does seem like a pedo, it’s my fault.

Jiang Muqing was very happy and content after she received the
underwear, and I let out a breath of relief.

Then, she finally put on the orange one-piece dress. Walking in

front of the mirror, Jiang Muqing observed herself for a long time, and
didn’t turn around.

She stood by the mirror, spacing out.

Why did she say that? Wasn’t she happily trying out her clothes a
moment ago?

The saleswoman thought it was strange for Jiang Muqing to look so

sad, and smiled as she turned Jiang Muqing around.

“Isn’t she beautiful?”

The dress fit perfectly, as if tailored for Jiang Muqing specifically.

Its warm color seemed to wash off the girl’s usual darkness, and her
every smile was like the sun. She looked like the lucky princess in
fairy tales, and I was her most loyal guard.

When she turned around, I suddenly thought I was looking at the

past’s Luo Xue, feeling a rush of joy and excitement. But then I
realized that it was Jiang Muqing, and my euphoria melted to pique.

However, I need to keep the cheer on my face, because she needs

it more than I do.

“Yeah.”

I smiled lightly to Jiang Muqing and the saleswoman.

….

The short-haired girl picked out a suitable bra for Jiang Muqing, and
Mom really appreciated her help on buying clothes.

Attraction between same sexes don’t need any explanations. With
similar needs and pleasures, they can become the closest friends. *

*I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but Lu Fan is not implying
homosexuality. This is an English translation side effect.

Every girl needs a close female friend, and Jiang Muqing is no

exception.

If she had someone to

With a friend like that, awkward things like coming to me for help
when her bra strap broke wouldn’t happen.

…..

I lazily propped up my head in the ice cream shop, doodling

mindlessly on scratch paper. I brooded about a suitable candidate for
the female friend.

“Lu Fan, you’re not acting like you usually do today.”

Mo Shiyu sipped the chilled juice in her hands, and peered at me

suspiciously.

I didn’t blame her. I didn’t even take notice of most questions she
asked me today.

“Lu Fan, since you’re so out of it today, then let’s go home

after this problem.”

Mo Shiyu looked a little angry about being ignored.

“Aww, don’t do that. I was just thinking about some things,

let’s keep studying.”

I exhaled and tidied up my feelings. I should focus on schoolwork

right now, I can worry about Jiang Muqing later.

Outside of the ice cream shop, I waved goodbye to Mo Shiyu. A

normal day was about to end, but something unexpected happened
today.

Just as I was turning around to head to the bus stop.

A furry object slammed into my naked leg. Its claws sunk into my
flesh.

It was Jiang Muqing’s black cat.

Stretching out on my foot, it mischievously bared its teeth at me. It

licked its fur, then stuck its bacteria-ridden tongue to my skin.

“Don’t lick! Get off!”

I seemed to have scared it. It meowed unhappily, leaped off, and

returned to its master.

Its owner was wearing an orange dress, standing out in the crowd.

“Jiang Muqing, why are you here?”

I was a little surprised, and a grim feeling rose in my heart.

The school’s honor class’ cram school was already over, so it was
natural that Jiang Muqing would come to mine. I had miscalculated.
God knows how long she’s been watching me and Mo Shiyu.

“Lu Fan?”

Jiang Muqing stood in front of me with her head lowered. Her face
was stiff.

“Lu Fan?”

Mo Shiyu noticed that something was wrong.

She came back, and looked at the both of us. She seemed stunned,
and remained silent.

And Jiang Muqing stared into my eyes, as if trying to discern the

I didn’t know what to say. In

To be honest, if I had curled my arm around Jiang Muqing’s waist

and told Mo Shiyu that she was my girlfriend, Jiang Muqing would’ve
immediately returned to normal.

“Are you classmate Jiang Muqing, who transferred to our

school this year? Hello, I’m Lu Fan’s classmate, my name is
Mo Shiyu.”

Mo Shiyu paused for a long time before breaking the silence. She
politely extended her right hand, but Jiang Muqing looked to have
gone dumb. She stared at me, and completely ignored Mo Shiyu.

Her expression was exactly like a wife whose husband betrayed

her. She looked extremely helpless, standing blankly.

Her interrogating eyes made the ends of my hair stand up.

Although I didn’t betray her at all, a strange feeling of guilt riled up in
my heart.

“You’re joking, right.”

Jiang Muqing’s lips trembled.

“Classmate, are you alright?”

Her tone was concerned.

Jiang Muqing’s face was pale, and she started to giggle maniacally.

“Classmate Jiang Muqing, you….”

Mo Shiyu saw her abnormality, and stretched her hand

reassuringly.

“Get out of my way!”

Jiang Muqing pushed her arm away, and ran to the road.

The black cat was about to follow, but it realized a large truck was
approaching fast, and stopped its paws.

And Jiang Muqing wasn’t looking at all, sprinting straight forward.

The cumbersome truck roared past.

The driver didn’t seem to notice what was happening on the

sidewalk. He didn’t slow down, and kept going straight as a nail. If
someone ran into it, they’ll probably go under the wheels and be
crushed into pudding.

Running forward with her head tucked in, the girl crashed into a
nearby pedestrian.

The man was tall and stocky, not moving an inch after being hit.
But the petite girl was knocked back by the weight difference, and
ended up on the hard asphalt.

She stood back up, regained her balance, and made her way
across the road and corner without looking back.

The black cat hovered by the curb, watching the cars fly by. It tried
to go across, but it couldn’t bring itself to lift a paw from cowardice.
Finally, it reluctantly returned to my side.

I almost had a heart attack. If Jiang Muqing really got into a car
accident, I would have to take all responsibility.

What a massive false alarm. *

*I know that you guys are thinking, WOW DID THE AUTHOR REALLY
JUST DO THAT, but my best guess is that he was about to write
something serious and had to back out when he realized how cliché
and predictable the “cliffhanger” in the previous chapter was, and
decided to take a more extraordinary approach. V2C25 proved that.

My first impulse was to go after her, but I thought. What difference

What would I have done? Explained my relationship

Trying to convince her would have led to more unnecessary

I once saw a quote: “What you explain is what you hide, and
what you hide is the truth.”

While worrying about Jiang Muqing’s sudden departure, I almost

Until she asked.

“Lu Fan, are you familiar with the new transfer?”

“Yep.”

Isn’t that quite obvious enough?

“What’s wrong with her?”

Mo Shiyu probably thought that the whole thing was funny. Jiang
Muqing’s unexpected arrival, unexpected temper, and unexpected
flight would be really hard to understand for someone like her.

“She….”

I didn’t know what to say.

Mo Shiyu paused, but she looked to already know the answer.

“Of course, classmates should definitely help another.”

Mo Shiyu’s reply was instantaneous and instinctive.

“Class Pres, I need your help right now.”

Since Mo Shiyu shows this much interest, she can possibly be Jiang
Muqing’s girlfriend.

“Mm?”

The girl didn’t really understand what I meant.

….

I returned to the ice cream shop with Mo Shiyu.

I told her my story, mostly about Jiang Muqing. I didn’t tell her
everything, and I naturally left out the inappropriate portions.

Hearing my tale, she first clenched a fist while holding a poker

face, but when I finished, she regained her calm and relaxed her
sweaty hand.

Her expression seemed to say “So that’s how it is”, and

unwound.

“So, Lu Fan was wrapped and clung to in a really strange

Mo Shiyu’s eyes were wide, and she looked

I was a beyond-normal high school student.

“I know that it’s hard to believe, but every word I’ve said is
the truth. So, will you help me?”

“Then, what can I do?”

Mo Shiyu’s eyes hardened.

“Make friends with the transfer student.”

That should sound easy enough, I thought.

“Friends?”

Mo Shiyu didn’t understand.

“Just the kind that can chat normally, go hang out during
the weekend, things like that. You two can be there for and
bring joy to each other.”

I explained.

“Becoming friends with her isn’t something that can be

easily forced upon. Even if I really wanted to, she would
probably refuse. Furthermore, I don’t think I’m even able to
make friends with her in the first place.”

Mo Shiyu chuckled.

“Why?”

“Same-sex repulsion.”

So magnetic attractions * in physics can be also applied to people?

www.asianovel.com

Contrarily, shouldn’t human relations be “Things of one kind come

*In Chinese, the term for magnetic repulsion and attraction can be
used very diversely. It can be used to metaphor nearly any form of
same-end repulsion and opposite-end attraction.

*This is the quote/saying’s official form. I know it sounds strange in

this context, but in the original

Have I made a mistake somewhere?

“But, if it’s possible, bring her along to study. Maybe it’ll

be better that way.”

Studying together? Well, it’s not like Jiang Muqing signed up for
any other cram schools. Having her stay at home all day might not
end too well.

“Will you be fine?”

Weren’t you talking about same-sex repulsion earlier? Talk about

going back on your word.

“Aren’t you the opposite sex? You cancel out the both of
us.”

Mo Shiyu’s words seemed humorous.

Eh, I can’t argue against that logic.

Just like that, I hurried home after parting ways with Mo Shiyu.

I was afraid that Jiang Muqing will make a big mess at home.

But nothing looked wrong on the outside. The light was on, the
door was properly locked, Mom was peacefully working at her

“Oh, Qing just left.” Mom replied nonchalantly.

“Where did she go? Back to her own house?”

“She said that she was going to let off some steam. But it’s

Mom looked at the clock on the wall with a concerned expression.

“Where did she go?”

I put my backpack by the door, and prepared to go look for her.

“She should be just nearby.”

Mom frowned, and tried to think of where Jiang Muqing might have
gone.

“Mom, I’ll be back soon. If it gets late, then I won’t be

coming home for dinner.”

I realized that Mom knew nothing more, so I went

“Be safe, and come home early.”

Mom looked at the darkening sky, and reminded me.

“Yep, got it.”

Just for precaution, I went to Jiang Muqing’s house first. After

pressing the doorbell numerous time without response, I deducted
that she wasn’t there.

If she didn’t go home, where could she have gone?

At this time of day, any store would be closed, including the

shopping mall, there’s nowhere for her to go?!

The internet café?

No, Jiang Muqing isn’t that type of person. And without an ID, you
can’t go in if you’re not eighteen.

She couldn’t have been kidnapped to some love motel by some

creepy bastard, right? I was scared to think further; a beautiful young
girl walking alone on the street can invoke all kinds of trouble.

Nighttime had already crawled up the sky. There wasn’t a star in

the horizon, even the large, round moon was covered by a thick layer
of cloud.

The sky was silent, but the ground was bustling with activity. The
city lit up with light, and the cars’ headlights raced through the
streets.

The people walking on the street, no matter happy or sad, all had
different stories. But they were all worrying and busying over their
own matters, and only I was wrapped around in someone else’s.
Where could she have gone? What direction is her story going?

I wanted to make a catalyst, one that would have the plot make a
turn for the better, and not backfire against myself.

But I had lost the protagonist for it to react upon.

The night market.

To my city, it isn’t something that’s really special. Other places

might have ones that are bigger and better than ours, but I’ve always
thought that my night market gave people the best sense of home.

The pedestrian street wasn’t too wide, and it was normally empty
and quiet during the day. But once nighttime came, the little road
seemed to wake up, and all kinds of dazzling booths littered the
curbs.

Some came to sell clothes, and set up hangers right on the street.
The cheap but colorful fabric billowed in the gentle evening breeze.

Other goods were just as plentiful. Pots, pans, bowls, plates,

brooms, just everyday household appliances. They were even
cheaper than the ones sold in the supermarket.

Of course, there were also those retired grandpas and grandmas,

selling their own gardened plants or little toys woven with lily pads
and rice sacks. Although it didn’t earn much money, they served well
to pass the time.

However, the most important business on the night market was

food. Sustenance is the most important The first desire people have
when they come into this world is to fill their stomach.

The amount of food I’ve eaten from when I was born to now is
probably enough to fill several truckloads.

The night market had fried egg pancakes, fried rice, and steamed
dishes from the north and our native southern seafood barbecue.

A celebrity from the Northeast once said this.

“There isn’t a single problem in the world that barbecue

round two.”

….

I blundered around, crashing through the bustling night market.

When I was young, I would come often with my mother to eat a

midnight meal, but our chances grew slim when my studies took a
steep climb.

Did Jiang Muqing come here to eat?

Alone?

One person silently stuffing themselves on a table seems quite

peculiar.

I followed the flow of the crowd. The food area was full of young
couples, and some gathering of family and friends.

In this environment, if one person were to take up one table in

solitude, along with a full table of barbecue and full boxes of beer,

*China’s regulation of alcohol to minors is extremely lax. Well, not

lax, more like insufficient. Nobody cares enough that they’ll ask for ID
even if the customer is clearly a minor. Of course, if you go into malls
or large supermarkets, they probably won’t sell minors alcohol, but
any moderately/small sized stores won’t have a problem as long as
you have money. Karaoke-TV and large restaurants are okay with it if
you make a reservation for those private closed-off rooms, where no
one can see. Most kids in China have their first real beers in middle
school.

As a high-school student, I haven’t had any alcohol before. *

*Lu Fan is a f4cking pussy.

I’ve never tried to get drunk before, because I know that it doesn’t

things they don’t mean, they also throw up everywhere. It’s rather
annoying. *

Beer shouldn’t get me too drunk, since its alcohol content is lower.

Maybe it was time to let her vent properly.

The railroad snaked around mountains, valleys, and terraced fields

Maybe it was because I’ve heard too many sad songs that I’ll think

Jiang Muqing, I thought of a name.

A very beautiful girl. She had delicate features, a head of soft black
hair, and a balanced body.

A gentle rise on her chest, a supple waist, and a slender waist.

Please forgive my shameless description. When a man looks at a

woman, their eyes are invariably lustful.

No matter who looks at her, they’ll always feel that she’s a very
comfortable type.

But her mind needed a little work.

She will be a Yandere,

I thought of a personality.

Maybe I’ve been watching too much yandere tragedy anime lately,
that I would have such a logical and sound dream. It was almost as if
the girl actually existed.

To be obsessively loved by such a beautiful girl, was probably the

dream of every boy.

“Besides me, you don’t need anybody else.” She seems to

In my belief, if yandere truly exists, it definitely isn’t love. Rather,

it’s a disease.

Thankfully, it was just a dream. However, it’s not a bad idea if I

were to use that to write a novel. Those stupid otaku readers would
probably enjoy this kind of girl.

Just like that, an idea was created.

I brooded a little more, and opened the notes app on my phone. I

Every concept and feeling was to be recorded, and even so for the

they must return.

To satisfy the elderly’s desires is one of our country’s most

prestigious traditions. Caring for elders is a responsibility of the
young.

What the elderly crave most is the company of their descendants,

so I don’t have to worry about anything except having fun. I felt the
most relieved in this week than any other time in summer break.

I’ll go take a look at that old white mansion, too. I hope it hasn’t
been demolished yet.

[Okay, there’s a lot of confusion over my last message.

This is NOT hard to understand.

The flashback is NOT a “giant” flashback, as in back to the MC’s

childhood. It is merely a long one. V3C2 (this chapter) is jumping
forward from the last story chapter, V2C25. So V3C3 jumps BACK to
V2C25, and V3C18 jumps FORWARD to the present, continuing V3C2.
I guess in ways it’s technically a flashback, though not a “serious”
one. I said “giant” because it spans 16 chapters, and I apologize for
my clumsy wording.

I thought about the busy day ahead, and decided to sleep early.

After a bowl of instant noodles, I brushed my teeth and washed my

Although the top bunk was a bit small, it was fairly quiet. The air

A low, graceful male voice trickled from my headphones. A singer

had made a cover of an old drama theme song, turning it into a
different taste.

I didn’t know how long I listened to the scratchy, deep voice, but
my eyelids slowly started to droop.

I felt the fatigue in my body, and shut off my phone’s music app. I

took off my headphones, got into a comfortable position on my bed,

But just when I was about to fall into the world of dreams, I felt
someone climb up a bunk, creaking loudly.

Who in their right mind hasn’t gone to sleep yet? I yawned.

“Mm?”

Why do I feel someone’s hand pressing on my leg?

“Hey, wait, you’re on the wrong bunk!”

In the darkness, I saw someone clumsily climb up the ladder of my

bedframe.

The shadow didn’t seem to care, and it managed to succeed. Then,

they flopped down on my body.

“Say…”

I unhappily wanted to get up,

“Ahh!”

A girl’s scream.

“Be careful!”

I quickly tugged at her collar. She wobbled shakily, and fell on top

“Lu Fan!”

She cried in hysteria.

“Jiang Muqing! Why are you here?!”

I almost got a heart attack.

Mom will keep you company.” I explained.

“Lu Fan, you promised me that you were going to be by my

side forever. It hasn’t even been that long, and you’re
thinking about leaving me behind and run away? Coward!”

The shoujo clasped my neck.

I wanted to break away, but if I moved the slightest bit, her body
started to tip backwards. So I held her.

“Absolutely not.”

I wasn’t able to resist, if I were to move just a bit or let go, she’ll
definitely fall down. This bunk is way too small!

“I want to go, too!” Jiang Muqing cried.

Since you’re already here, do you really think I can stop you?

When Mom ordered

“Fine, we can go together, but could you please go back to

your own bunk? Don’t tell me that you jumped the train.”
Being crushed like this wasn’t the most comfortable feeling.

Mom still betrayed me at the end.

“Then go back, it’s really uncomfortable like this!” I

“Don’t worry, you can go find an attendant if something

happens!” I naturally replied.

“Lu Fan!” The shoujo tightened her grip around my neck.

Aaahh, I can’t breathe!

“Ach, alright, since you don’t to go back, then I’ll sleep in

your bunk. I’m not afraid of old men.”

I quickly proposed.

“No, I want to sleep with Fan like this.”

The shoujo pressed against me harder.

“I can’t fall asleep; this is a one-person bunk! You’ll fall

“As long as Lu Fan holds me, I won’t fall over, right.”

The shoujo released her clasp, and circled her arms around my

I ordered to Jiang Muqing with a serious tone.

The girl pouted unhappily.

Anyway, it seems like she’s dead set on sleeping with me today.

I could only nudge myself outwards a little, holding an angle with

my body so that the girl was kept inside and not about to fall over.

Falling from a train bunk could be serious. If something broke, then

we would be in big trouble.

We snoozed silently for a while, but the shoujo grew

uncomfortable.

“Lu Fan, I’m so cold.”

She hugged her shoulders.

Jiang Muqing’s clothes were indeed a little bare. A summer T-shirt

and shorts weren’t quite enough under the air-conditioner vents.

“I want part of the blanket!”

She started to grope rudely.

Vol. 3 Chapter 3

From the first week of summer to the end, between the end of
Jiang Muqing’s summer cram school and the start of my visit to my
grandparents’ house, quite a lot of things happened in that long
period of time.

That night, Jiang Muqing got totally shit-faced, and refused to let
go of me. At the end, she threw up all over my clothes.

The strange smell of seafood and beer, along with the acidic odor
of stomach bile, nearly made me faint.

I ignored my body’s irritation, and managed to carry her home.

Mom took her to throw up in the bathroom, and helped her clean
herself. Then, she gave Jiang Muqing a fresh set of pajamas.

Mom blamed Jiang Muqing all on me. She sat near Jiang Muqing
while chewing me out. I exasperatedly sat through her lecture,
changed my dirtied clothes, and took a good, long shower. I scrubbed
as hard as I can, but I couldn’t wash away the disgusting feeling.

I couldn’t wash it away.

In my heart, I wanted to find somewhere to complain, to vent. But

after my shower, I saw the girl roll around the bed painfully. She kept
kicking off the blankets, and my mother kept pulling them back. With
that sight, all of my thoughts disappeared.

At last, I had achieved nothing. She was still unhappy, unable to

become a normal, healthy high school girl. She was still unable to live
with delight.

www.asianovel.com
37 Report
With each strike,

I needed to let her know that on this world, I was the most normal,
and that I wasn’t the only one as she believed.

Now, I need an opportunity.

However, before that chance lands, I have to face the

consequences of my failures.

….

With Mo Shiyu’s invitation, I brought Jiang Muqing along to our

summer studying group. As I expected, the normally peaceful group
was overturned with her arrival.

First was the seating arrangement.

Jiang Muqing stubbornly wanted to sit by my side, but the usually

generous class president Mo Shiyu suddenly started to haggle. She
didn’t let it pass, and the two started to argue in the classroom.

I kept throwing looks at Mo Shiyu, hoping that she would show

more leeway towards Jiang Muqing. But even though she was
normally mature and observant, it was like she didn’t understand my
point, and fought with Jiang Muqing like a little child.

Class was about to start, and I had no choice but to pick a random
stranger to sit with. It was only then they sat together quietly.

My head hurts.

, was the even more excruciating self-study at the ice-cream shop.

Jiang Muqing and Mo Shiyu seemed like they were injected with

problems and concepts is inherently a positive occasion, but it was
the opposite under the two of them.

“Let Jiang Muqing give it a shot, she had the highest score
in Shier High. Maybe there’s some easy method only she

Although Mo Shiyu was a little reluctant, she didn’t really have

anything to argue with. The girl sat unhappily, glaring at me and
Jiang Muqing.

Jiang Muqing shot a dirty look back at Mo Shiyu, and started to

explain her own problem-solving method to me.

Her procedure was very unique, and the logic behind it went a little
farther than our current textbooks. However, it was insanely easy to
use, and could find the answer in a flash.

She spoke quickly, immersed in her own path of thought. She

didn’t think about whether I could understand, but rather in solving
the problem.

I listened very carefully, and understood the general abstract. But

by what I felt, the method was just too much of a leap from where I
was right now. It was too much for my current understanding.

It completely strayed from the teacher’s walkthrough, and followed

her own philosophe with diligence.

I flipped through the answer key seemingly in disbelief, but the

answer was identical with Jiang Muqing’s answer.

It had far fewer steps than the walkthrough, making me very

suspicious of Jiang Muqing’s accuracy.

“Lu Fan, did you not understand?”

www.asianovel.com
39 Report
Jiang Muqing frowned as she looked at my brooding face.

“It’s a little more fast-paced than usual, and have I learned

that equation before?”

“Nope,

“Nope, I found it from another workbook. It’s really

handy.”

“Which book?”

I had never seen the strange formula before.

“Here.”

Jiang Muqing took out a copy of “Advanced Mathematics

Reasoning”, used typically in universities.

?!

This is out of my league….

“And how did this step go to this one?” I asked dazedly.

“It’s easy! Just like this…”

Jiang Muqing explained with confidence.

“I still… Don’t understand…”

I started to question my intelligence. The pressing matter at hand

was that I couldn’t keep up with her brain at all.

Just like that, I hit a bump in Jiang Muqing’s road.

Mo Shiyu watched as I fumbled with Jiang Muqing, and couldn’t

resist herself anymore.

www.asianovel.com

“Here, let me try.”

She smirked at Jiang Muqing. *

*Some of you may have forgotten, but Lu Fan left out the violent
and crazy bits when he was explaining to Mo Shiyu last chapter. So
MSY as of now is oblivious to Jiang Muqing’s… more interesting side.

Jiang Muqing clearly wanted to have another turn, but I felt that
maybe she could learn to express her methods more easily if she
would listen to Mo Shiyu’s.

“Let the Class Pres speak, maybe she has a better

solution.” I urged Jiang Muqing.

“What better solutions can she have? Hmph! I’ll see what
better ways she can use to solve this problem.”

So, she unwillingly let out her spot, and let Mo Shiyu explain the
problem.

No matter what, Mo Shiyu was still quite experienced with tutoring.

Although she wasn’t as fast as Jiang Muqing, but by following each
step on the walkthrough, I understood

Mo Shiyu’s every move was accurate and balanced, without a

shred of carelessness. All the formulas were displayed clearly by the
answer.

“Ah, I see. Thanks!”

After hearing Mo Shiyu’s thorough explanation, I let out a sigh of

relief.

“No problem.”

, she glanced at Jiang Muqing with delight, seemingly to prove

some point.

Jiang Muqing’s face was darkened. She clenched the pencil in her
hands, with her head lowered. She looked like a stray dog,

Damn it. With the state she was right now, I wondered if the
situation would run out of control.

“Jiang Muqing, are you alright….”

I looked at her a bit worriedly.

“It’s fine, you two continue.”

She paused for a while, and suddenly started to laugh.

The corners of her mouth were slightly tilted, like Da Vinci’s

“Mona Lisa”. Although it was a smile, it seemed more like a smirk,
sending uncomfortable chills down people’s backs.

“Are you sure?” I asked.

You’re saying that you’re fine, but you’re really not acting like it!

“Yep.”

“Then… Let’s keep going.”

I observed Jiang Muqing anxiously, and resumed conversation with

Mo Shiyu after confirming that she wasn’t going anywhere.

To speed up the process, we threw ourselves completely in

discussion, quickly finishing off many hard problems. It was as if we
have forgotten Jiang Muqing’s presence.

Jiang Muqing seemed compliant, too. She didn’t bother us

Just like Mo Shiyu, she became a fine studying partner, and we

and not care for her lack of presence at all. And Mo Shiyu thought, if

To win the bet, Jiang Muqing had to act like Mo Shiyu all day. She

studies.

She even went as far as eating the “Alaskan Frozen Volcano”

All in half a day.

She wanted to prove that what Mo Shiyu could do with me, she

And what Mo Shiyu couldn’t do, she could.

Very admirable….

Except that her motives were wrong from the very start.

Her heart was still a wolf’s. To gain my love, she slipped on Mo

Shiyu’s sheepskin.

My stubbornness had tugged the sheepskin to shreds, and Jiang

Muqing could only rip it off to expose her glinting, sharp teeth.

Nobody can replace anybody. Each of us are unique, with each of

Mo Shiyu was unique, and Luo Xue was even so.

And Jiang Muqing was an absolute diamond in the rough.

As a yandere, Jiang Muqing was incredibly sensitive to all girls

close to me. A normal, academic relationship was romance in her
eyes, and triggered her strong negativity. I should have caught that
on earlier.

It was all my fault, and none of Mo Shiyu’s.

Jiang Muqing, whatever revenge you have, take it all out on me!

I was prepared.

But I didn’t know what was betted on in the promise, although it

didn’t matter what it was. Without freedom, even if we had won,
there was no way to resist.

….

I kept yelling, but Jiang Muqing didn’t seem to hear. With her
slender arms,

“Watch.”

The girl spoke icily.

Jiang Muqing took out a red candle, and lit it with a lighter.

The quivering flame didn’t light up the room too much, but it did
create an uneasy atmosphere.

What is she trying to do?

Jiang Muqing took the candle, and walked to Mo Shiyu. She held
the girl steady with one hand, and waved the candle closer to her

The girl’s soft face felt the candle’s scorching heat, and lurched
backwards in fear. But it was useless, as she was crushed down on
the sofa by Jiang Muqing, and had nowhere to go.

“No!”

I looked

“What, are you hurt?”

Jiang Muqing turned her head, and looked at me listlessly.

“This has nothing to do with her, come at me if you want

anything!”

“Since Fan isn’t willing, then let’s do some stuff that Fan
likes.”

Jiang Muqing laughed coldly.

“What I like?”

What I would like is for you to let us go right now.

Jiang Muqing sized up the girl’s adolescent features, and put the
candle on the nearby coffee table. She seemed to have given up on
melting her face off.

“Since Lu Fan likes her, then…”

Jiang Muqing started to undo the buttons on the girl’s white shirt.

Mo Shiyu looked at me in fear, shaking. Her

The girl started to sob, and cried till her eyes were bloodshot. And I
had no way of saving her.

“Isn’t she beautiful? Are you happy?”

Jiang Muqing asked me.

“…”

I was getting dizzy from seeing Mo Shiyu.

“Do you want a better look?”

Jiang Muqing picked up the candle.

The flickering light reflected in the girl’s enlarged pupils. Her eyes
were glassy, more like a corpse that Jiang Muqing was free to play
with.

I felt, at this moment, she must hate me.

Her naked

Her naked body was reddened by the heat, motionless like a

statue. She seemed to have given up completely.

The candle slipped a bit, and a drop of the blistering oil landed on
the girl’s pale shoulder, making her writhe in pain.

The wax slid down her collarbone, and made its way slowly to the
curve of her breasts.

“Ahh, I’ve dirtied the thing Lu Fan likes!”

Jiang Muqing licked and chewed at the girl’s breast.

“Fan, you really are happy.”

Jiang Muqing’s eyes swiveled to my crotch.

I know, my little buddy is getting uncontrollably excited. As a

healthy adolescent boy, this was unavoidable.

“It seems that Fan loves this body very much, then I’ll
express my love to Fan, too.”

As she spoke, Jiang Muqing took a permanent marker from under

the coffee table.

Isn’t that the marker she used last time to write all those Post-It

What does she want to do?

Jiang Muqing waved the marker under Mo Shiyu’s skirt, scraping it

“Uwhh!”

The violated girl felt the strange sensation, and seemed to

Think about what can change Jiang Muqing’s actions?

What can I take advantage of Jiang Muqing?

The only weapon I have is…

I’m such a genius.

A despicable genius.

Is this the only way?

I steadied myself, and wrapped up my weak, frightened look. I

The words “I’m such a bastard” echoed in my heart. I let go of

Jiang Muqing saw my crazed look, and seemed to stop.

I kept talking trash.

You’re not the only girl I like, I’m a massive f*ckboy. As someone

“As long as I destroy every girl that Lu Fan likes, Fan would

Jiang Muqing stood up, took out a sharp pair of scissors, and
pointed it to Mo Shiyu’s neck.

Just as expected, murder was the yandere’s answer to the

problem.

“Kill her then, kill them all. I would still keep loving girls.”

I smirked.

Could you really get rid of every single girl?

“Then when will Fan let me… have my turn?”

Her face straightened.

This reply was a little out of my expectations. Does she consider
herself in that group?

“Do you think I will ever love a woman who kills everyone

I pretended to look at her with disgust. Nobody loves a murderer.

“No, I can’t be like this!”

Her brows knit together, and her pupils dilated. A frightening

expression appeared on her face.

I seemed to have hit rock-bottom. This was her limit, that she
would do something that will cause me to not love her.

Just as I anticipated, Jiang Muqing lowered her knife from Mo

Shiyu’s neck. She walked to my side, and pointed the scissors to my
face.

“If you kill someone I love, I will never be with you.”

Facing the sharp edge, I repeated without so much as a twitch.

Are you hearing this right? If you hurt others, we will never stay
together.

“No! If that’s the case, then Fan won’t be unfaithful if he’s dead. I’ll
carry Fan’s ashes by my side, and Fan will never leave me again.

The scissors started to shake,

you do that?”

I laughed. Even if I become ashes, I will never love you.

“Then I’ll die with you. I’ll kill you first, and then myself.
That way, our souls can be together!”

She still seemed stubborn.

“Do souls really exist? Humans only have one chance in

life, and they lose everything once they die. How will you
ever be with me?”

What a joke.

“I believe in souls; I believe in the afterlife.”

The shoujo was very determined.

“Even if you’re right, do you think my soul could be bound

like the tape around me right now? What’s going to stop me
from chasing the other ghost girls? Will we meet each other
again? Do you really think our fates could be that entwined?”

I ripped apart the shoujo’s innocent dreams. Even if I become a

spirit, even if there is an afterlife, I will never love you.

“Then, Lu Fan will never love me even if he dies?”

The pair of scissors clanged to the floor, and she sank to her knees.

She’s finally understood.

Jiang Muqing’s pale, lifeless face inched closer to mine.

“I will never love the way you are right now.”

I glanced at the unconscious Mo Shiyu on the sofa, and gazed at

“The way I am right now?”

Jiang Muqing looked around her,

Lu Fan, you forced me like this. When I saw the two of you
together like that, I couldn’t control myself at all.”

Jiang Muqing lowered her head, almost in shame.

“Jiang Muqing, you have a disease.”

I stared at her intently.

“Are you saying that I’m insane?”

“No, not like that.”

I exhaled.

“Then, is how I love you the disease?”

“How could it not be? Look upon yourself, and wake up!
Your state right now only makes people afraid of you.”

I looked at her broken expression, and lamented.

Who could bear this kind of love. What can I do to save you? I don’t
want to see that expression anymore.

….

In the darkness, the shoujo gazed at me in deep thought. After a

leaped up.

“Sorry, Lu Fan, I’ve falsely accused you.”

Jiang Muqing had returned to normal, and stared guiltily at Mo

“Why do you say that?”

Didn’t I admit that I love Mo Shiyu?

“If Lu Fan really does love someone, will he really say

Jiang Muqing gazed at me silently.

“Acting like a bastard will only make the people who love

I sent the nearly-broken Mo Shiyu home, but when I returned to

Has she gone back?

I thought, and locked her door.

I’ve come out again with no casualties, but the sacrifice this time

that getting rid of “love rivals” with violence was not the way to go.

If you kill a douchebag’s lover, he won’t be afraid; rather, he’ll go

Then, to be with the douchebag and prevent him from having

Of course, she did notice that I didn’t really like Mo Shiyu, and

But it wasn’t that bad. Even if I didn’t say those words, I doubted I

she would tell her parents what happened or not.

If her family were to know, Jiang Muqing would definitely be taken

Jiang Muqing didn’t do anything rash afterwards, either. Besides

Though our little study group separated from the incident, there
were still the summer cram classes that we all needed to attend .

There weren’t many days left of the class, but I wasn’t going to
ditch school . The following morning after the weekend, I prepared
my things as usual .

Textbooks, notebooks, scratch paper, pens, and a backpack .

After my morning routine, I looked at myself in the mirror . A tall,

slender figure, and a face of fatigue . I looked like I couldn’t do
anything right .

Could it be that there’s too much for me to do lately? Besides what

happened with Jiang Muqing, the cram school’s also been eating
away at my mind .

I tried to make a funny face at the mirror .

I imagined about what happened that day, the insanity that was
displayed on my expression . The resulting reflection gave me a jump
.

Pulsating veins on my forehead, bulging eyes, and a mouth that

seemed like it was torn open, revealing two rows of gleaming white
teeth upon a crimson bed .

Along with the monstrous words that came from my throat… .

….

The thought frightened me . After seeing it for myself, I felt like my

mind was much clearer .

Was it that I went overboard and scared her a bit too much? I
looked back at the office’s shut door .

Though I was still less fearsome than how she normally was during
her own episodes, she’d simply closed me off . Her clinginess had
stuck to me like a habit, and in a flash, she became like a normal
person living at my house . Ironically, it felt surreal .

Should I call for her

After all, she had signed up for that cram class for my sake . Now
that she had shut off, she probably wouldn’t go back again . I didn’t
know whether Mo Shiyu would come either; after all, only God knew
what she would think when she sees me again after something like
that happened .

“Oh my f***ing god, that bastard’s seen me naked from

head to toe!”

It would most likely be a thorough feeling of disgust .

“Dong dong!”

I knocked on the office door, but there was no response .

I turned away almost immediately, feeling a sense of relief .

Because at that moment, I thought that maybe the taming had
worked .

When a yandere girl hates her person of interest, that person will
no longer be of interest . Without the incessant longing towards that
somebody, the yandere could not be called a yandere anymore .

But on that logic, she should have gathered her things and gone
home already, why is she still hiding in Dad’s office? I had no idea
what she was still on about .

www.asianovel.com

I walked to the bus station, waiting for the line that would take me
to cram school . To my surprise, Mo Shiyu was also walking along,
and stopped beside me .

So, she’d ended up coming? It didn’t seem that the incident had
affected her very much . She was wearing clean clothes along with a
crisp ponytail tied to the back . She seemed energetic to go to class,
and I couldn’t detect a bit of abnormality from her .

However…

“Um, Mo Shiyu?”

I inched towards her .

The shoujo turned around and looked at me, seeming a bit stunned
.

“Hm?”

She lowered her head, and her expression was

“About what happened, I’m sorry… . ”

Though I had already apologized many times, I still couldn’t help

but do it again after seeing her like this .

“It’s, it’s okay, I’m alright…”

She laughed awkwardly at me .

The bus peeled in the stop, and she didn’t pay more attention to
me, almost escaping onto the bus . Then, she found a spot at the
back .

I stepped on too, but stopped at the front .

I didn’t think I should bother her anymore .

www.asianovel.com

Just when the bus started its engine, a girl waved frantically at the
driver from the stop . He stomped on the brakes, and she hurried
through the doors .

“Jiang Muqing?”

Upon the sight of her white dress, I called out her name .

She ended up coming, but is she not scared that Mo Shiyu would
get back at her or something?

Jiang Muqing looked at me, and ignored my presence as usual .

She walked to the end of the bus, and stopped by Mo Shiyu’s side .

“Aye… . ”

I wanted to stop her .

But Jiang Muqing didn’t look very angry at Mo Shiyu .

When she saw Jiang Muqing walk up, her face revealed a fearful
expression . She backed away to a more crowded corner, leaving a
spot for her nightmare to stand in .

So, it’s still a prey-predator relationship? I was hoping that Mo

Shiyu would stand up for herself a little .

Was the formerly bossy class president still conquered by the

transfer student in the end? Now that I thought about it, if I was so
scared of her before, then I’m no better than the “prey” .

….

After a short walk from the bus, we arrived on

I walked at the very front, and Jiang Muqing was a short distance
behind . I couldn’t see Mo Shiyu until after Jiang Muqing had walked a
considerable distance; it was only then she came from behind the

street corner .

I felt guilty seeing her, and hoped that time would heal her wound .

Because I’d come early, I randomly picked an empty seat . I

thought that none of the two would try to sit near me, since nobody
wants to sit next to a sick piece of s**t .

As expected, Jiang Muqing sat at the farthest seat away from me in

the corner when she walked in .

Finally, I could listen properly in class . Before, the atmosphere was

always bizarre with the two of them sitting behind me, but now, that
problem doesn’t exist anymore .

Soon, Mo Shiyu came in . She saw me first, and I smiled weakly at

her . Her cheek twitched, and she too hurried to the opposite corner .

Then, she saw Jiang Muqing, who looked up at her . She backed
away quickly in fright, and finally sat down in the middle of the
classroom .

….

Maybe we’ll never be in the same boat again . Yet, things weren’t
as simple as I thought they would be . This happened in the break
between the summer class periods .

….

During the first language arts period, we discussed the poem

As for me, I was preoccupied with disposing of the waste in my

system that was cramping up my stomach from all the water I drank
this morning .

In more common terms, I went to take a piss .

Just when I had let it out and my gut felt a lot better, I heard a
series of strange noises from the girls’ bathroom on the other side .

“Ah… . No… . ”

The moans of a shoujo?

I curiously peered over the doorframe, and witnessed a shocking

scene .

In front of me was a long-haired girl and a ponytailed one .

Their bodies were pressed together, and the long-haired one was
forcefully holding the ponytailed girl against the whitewashed wall .
Upon sight of her prey’s horrified face, she let out a psychotic cackle,
and pushed her lips upon her prey’s without a sliver of hesitation .

“Ah! You can’t…”

The ponytailed girl suddenly realized that the hands that were
holding down her shoulders had slid down to the buttons on her
collar . With a few simple clicks, they reached in .

Her cheeks showed a faint blush, and her pupils grew emptier by

Guo Tong’s reasoning wasn’t really wrong . If a first date with a girl

“Well, alright . Which lucky girl did my little Guo managed

“Do you still remember the female mage in Republic?” *

“Yep . ” He replied .

Ah, otakus are still attracted to otakus .

do anything then?” I was curious .

“We were all too young and dumb during that time, and
this girl isn’t easy to deal with . I’ve tried too many ways, but
it seems that video games are the only solution . ”

Guo Tong sighed .

Could she be the reason that Guo Tong embarked on the journey of
otakus? Just what kind of girl fell his heart hook, line, and sinker? My
curiosity was sparked .

“Not easy to deal with?” I asked .

“Have you heard about otaku girls who have no heart, no

emotions, and no words? Conventional methods are rendered
useless against her!”

Guo Tong’s tone contained a desperate and lamenting air .

….

What was that? Could she be harder to handle than a yandere?

There were two types of movie theaters in our area: independent

theaters that were built from long ago and screened old movies from
the previous century, and massive digital theaters that were mostly
located in giant shopping malls.

The new, modern theaters could show popular 3D movies.

Audiences could only view them properly while wearing special
glasses, or else the screen would look like a large swathe of blurry
graffiti.

Though 3D movies were pretty amazing, I still missed the old

movie nights in my hometown.

When I was young and lived at my grandparents’ house, the town

would hire a person every weekend to set up a projector at my
school’s soccer field. Though they mostly screened old war films or
popular films from last year, they would occasionally screen a few
foreign classics.

The girl in front of me gave me an indescribable feeling. If she was
really an otaku to this degree, I felt very sorry for her.

Has she lost all sense of language?

“Hi, I’m Lu Fan. I’m a friend of Guo Tong’s.”

I glanced at the girl a bit annoyedly as I typed these words into my

phone and sent her a message.

“Hello, I’m Jian Yu.”

The girl emotionlessly typed on her phone’s keyboard. Her fingers’

speed was extremely fast, and the sentence appeared on my screen
in just a few moments.

I stared at the girl by Guo Tong’s side in extreme awkwardness.

She was even more skinnier than Jiang Muqing, and her height was
almost a foot shorter than the standard height.

Her figure was even more saddening. There wasn’t much to

comment on other than her skinniness. Where there should have
been a rise was a flat wasteland.

Though her facial features weren’t very special, it gave off a sense

of quiet intelligence.

Her long hair was simply tied back in a bun. She wore a clean,
white shirt and dark shorts…

“Um… Guo Tong, is Jian Yu not able to speak?”

“It’s not that she doesn’t know how to, she just doesn’t
really like to speak with strangers because it gives her
anxiety. Texting makes her much more comfortable.” Guo
Tong chuckled as he explained.

“Eh…”

The reason why girls of planet Earth were so peculiar, like Jiang
Muqing and Jian Yu, was beyond me.

“Then, let’s go. The movie’s almost starting.”

“Then, let’s go. The movie’s almost starting.”

Guo Tong waved at me and Jian Yu.

Since the theater had just recently opened, all the tickets were
discounted. If we had ordered online, it would have been even
cheaper.

Guo Tong was as cunning as ever to jump on this deal and save a
load of money. But now that he’s asked me to be a third-wheel, he’ll
have to treat me to lunch.

“Do you want any drinks or snacks?”

Guo Tong seemed much more cheerful than usual.

“Some hot green tea and nothing else, please.”

“Hot coffee.”

A voice that sounded like a flat line sounded behind me.

Did she just speak? I glanced back at the emotionless girl staring
off into the distance. Was I halluncinating?

“Okay, green tea and coffee.”

Guo Tong gave us an OK gesture and went to wait in line.

Jian Yu and I sat on a bench waiting for him.

Should I say something? I peeked at the girl through the corner of

my eyes.

“Um…” I wanted to start a conversation.

Ding!

Ding!

A new message popped up on my phone.

I unlocked my phone confusedly. A new text had popped up.

“Although we’ve just met, I want to ask you. Are you a

good person or a bad one?” The text read.

What did this mean?

“Probably a good guy, what’s wrong?”

I didn’t get she meant.

“If you’re truly a pleasant person, why would you have an

adversary?” The girl continued to type.

“An adversary?! But nobody’s ever made me an enemy

before.”

Is your head okay? I’m not some model citizen, but at least I abide
the law!

“Your adversary is following you. Behind you, the second

pillar from the end.”

The girl typed with an empty expression.

“What?!”

I quickly turned my head. To my surprise, a shadowed figure

immediately shrunk back behind the pillar, just as the girl had

Who would follow me without a reason? I didn’t have a buttload of

debt or commit any heinous crime. I didn’t possess national secrets,
nor was the assassination target of foreign countries.

I waited until the person was completely behind the pillar and
crouched down, crawling out of their sight. I jogged all the way
around the theater and arrived behind them.

The person was wearing a black jacket and wore a big hat. Their
hands were stuck in their jeans, and they looked extremely
suspicious.

The person didn’t seem to notice me. When they stuck their head
out and saw that I was gone, their target was already about to
pounce.

I charged forward in a bear hug and completely immobilized my

stalker.

“AHH!”

A girl’s scream? She was clearly scared and surprised by my

assault.

Her voice seems familiar?!

I quickly turned her around.

I saw her angry face.

“Hmph!”

She wasn’t willing to back down even after being caught.
