Student Induction
Purpose
The laboratory induction is a compulsory procedure that must be completed by each student at the
beginning of or prior the each semester of their program of study prior to entering and conducting any
activity within the laboratory. This induction process continues each semester whilst the student is
enrolled in their program for any course requiring a lab. The student needs only to attend one basic
induction session per semester.
Each student must read, sign and return this document prior to the first laboratory exercise and failure
to do so will result in the student not being given access into the laboratory. Students who fail to comply
with laboratory safety protocols or requirements will be removed from the laboratory and in extreme
cases may face disciplinary action from the Executive Dean, Faculty of Science under Federation
University Australia Regulation 6.1, Student Discipline.
