Our community has the family as its basic unit. Every Filipino family knows the values of togetherness in times of joy and pain. Thus, St. Mary’s Educational Institute pays importance to families as partners of upbringing the children and the major stakeholders of its Catholic education. With this, the community annually celebrates Family Day. The Celebration started with the Holy Mass, officiated by Rev. Fr. Richard Panganiban, president of the Unified Schools of the Archdiocese of Lipa. He thanked the parents for being always there in times of need. He also expressed the gratitude of the school for making the its education be attained with their help. Also, he pointed out how the children act and dress nowadays. He stresses that the parents must be the role model of the children in respect, dignity and discipline. The Holy Mass is also intended for us to express our gratefulness to God as he continuously showers all of us His blessings, asking forgiveness for our shortcomings and blessing each family a sound mind and body so that everyone can actively participate in the day’s activities. After the mass, each grade level got the chance to showcase their talents and express their love and appreciation for their parents. Alyzzah Fei V. Lascano, together with all the pupils from grade five made everyone cried as they surprise their parents with roses as their symbol of love for them while singing “Iingatan Ka”. After the showcase of talents, everybody was amazed, thrilled and dropped their jaws as they witness the talents and performances from individuals and groups from other places. These includes Dance Kids group and Lem Pelayo. The Family Council, the main organizer of the occasion, prepared raffle prizes which includes motorcycle, televisions, sacks of rice, cellular phones and cash. They also had their Bingo games which makes the level of happiness of everyone got higher. Lucky are those who brought home the prizes. Looking on the true meaning of the celebration, the event is not just merely for fun and entertainment. It is the school’s way of showing how they really pays importance to the roles of the families in raising the children. It is also a way of strengthening the bonds between the children and their parents, spending some quality time with them away from work and stress and be open to them. It is a day full of laughter, fun, love and enjoyment! Riches, properties, houses, lands, cars and money cannot measure the true meaning of a family. What you need to do is to see the wonders of your own family – the love and support of your parents, the advices of your sisters and brothers. Think them as your reason to be determined and aim for the best in all the things you do. Think of them as you reach your dreams. Think of them as your angels sent from up above.
