Learning Objective:
To familiarize students with the classification of sampling techniques in research and the practical
ways to using those techniques.

Learning Outcomes:
After attempting this assignment students will be able:

 To classify and identify the sampling technique(s) used in a certain scenario.

Scenario:
Suppose Mr. Ali works as a researcher in R&D department of an organization. Being a researcher,
he wants to conduct two research studies for the organizational development.

First; he wants to study the impact of job satisfaction on employee’s turnover working in that
organization. For this purpose, he needs to develop an accurate sampling frame of each group (based
on provincial city) and then needs to choose respondents accordingly.

Secondly; he wants to study the impact of organizational culture on Enterprise Resource Planning
(ERP) systems. Population of this study is employee’s working on ERP systems in Karachi based
offices of the organization. For this purpose, he decided to contact with the respondents by using
chain referrals.

Required:

You are required to identify the type of sampling and sampling technique in each case and justify
your choice with at least two arguments. (1 argument for type of sampling and 1 argument of
sampling technique).

[2 marks for type of sampling, 2 marks for sampling technique, 1 mark for two justifications]
