 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT APN
 Design is based on APN service (Access Point Network) to create PRIVATE VPN
 Point to multipoint service with private secured virtual channels from border posts to NIS HQ
 Works with individual network as it is configured on SIM CARDS ONLY and NOT USB DONGLES
 Sim card can be used anywhere in Nigeria where there is network and moved to any location as its not fixed to
a location.
 Any compatible Universal GSM Dongles can be used that is not Networked locked!
 There is no cross talks between network provider (i.e – Airtel APN service cannot carry APN service from Glo or
Etisalat or MTN and Vice Versa)
 There is no cap on the Speed at the remote as its determined by the Available Network (2G, 3G or 4G Data
Speed)
 There is however a Pool of Bandwidth per month for ALL APN location to use from. Note: This Bandwidth
expires every month used or not and when depleted before the end of the month, it expires and would need
reactivation.
 Installation will be done at NIS HQ. A single connection will be given to NIS to terminate their device. If more
than one equipment is needed, NIS will provide the switch/router ports needed
 HOW IT ALL COMES TOGETHER
 RADIO LINK WILL BE INSTALLED AT NIS HQ TO CONNECT TO ALL REMOTE LOCATIONS USING DONGLES

 THIS LINK HAS A MINIMUM BANDWIDTH OF 2MBPS CONNECTING TO THE TELCO’S CLOUD

 ALL REMOTE LOCATIONS WILL BE CONNECTED USING USB DONGLES WITH AIRTEL SIM CARDS IN THEM TO ACCESS

AIRTEL GSM CLOUD NETWORK

 ALL DONGLES WILL HAVE AIRTEL 2G OR 3G (EDGE OR WCDMA) NETWORK FOR DATA

 ONCE CONNECTED, SYSTEMS WILL CONNECT TO THE HQ SERVER CONNECTED TO THE APN EDGE DEVICE FOR

CONNECTIVITY. FILES WILL BE SENT AND RECEIVED VIA A VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK

 NO ADDITIONAL ENCRYPTION IS REQUIRED BUT CAN BE ADDED TO STRENGTHEN THE SERVICE (USE OF FIREWALL)

 DEPENDING ON THE CONNECTING SPEEDS, FILES WILL BE TRANSFERRED AT DIFFERENT RATE ACROSS THE NETWORK.

 THIS IS A PLUG AND PLAY SERVICES AS ONLY WHAT IS CONNECTED TO THE APN EDGE EQUIPMENT CAN BE UTILIZED. NO

ADDITIONAL CONFIGURATION IS NEEDED ON REMOTE SITES

 BANDWIDTH IS SHARED ACROSS THE NETWORK AND SO ADDITIONAL LINKS CAN BE ADDED AT ANYTIME WITH LITTLE OR

NO COST DURING UPGRADING

 Design is based on Internet Service from any ISP but with the creation of VPN tunnel between both Locations

 Point to multipoint service with private secured virtual channels from border posts to NIS HQ

 Works with any internet network as its configured on SIM CARDS ONLY and NOT USB DONGLES

 Sim card can be used anywhere in Nigeria where there is network and moved to any location as its not fixed to a location.

other usages by the user

 Cost will be higher as bandwidth hungry systems and internet sites like FACEBOOK cannot be

blocked

 Internet Sim can be used on other systems aside IOM systems

 Any Sim can be used as data can be loaded on any sim for connection. No monitoring
 DRAWBACKS OF APN
 Depends on ONLY one network at a time. If more network is needed, the APN service

of that network will be gotten. AIRTEL APN cannot work with GLO APN or MTN APN

 Any SIM cannot be used as it needs to be configured. Only assigned SIM can be

used(More security)

 Areas where network is not covered, APN service wont work!
