Technology Description

3.1 Wood Plank

A plank is timber that is flat, elongated, and rectangular with parallel faces that are higher
and longer than wide. For this product, the wood plank is used as a main frame for the whole
system. The wood planks are made of Hardwoods, Hardwoods have a straight grain and are dense
woods which prevents moisture penetration. Hardwoods are both low maintenance & highly
resistant to moisture. So, it is the best option for the product since the wood might expose to the
moisture. The hardwoods also serve as decoration since the surface finish will be covered by oil-
based varnish. Oil- based varnish offers the best durability in terms of water-resistance. The reason
is its constituent synthetic resins that are bonded to drying oils & mixed with a thinner.

3.2 Piping System

The Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe and fitting was used for the piping system in this
product. Various size of pipe is used for the purpose of flowing water through the entire system. it
has been certified as safe for use in drinking water plumbing by Government agencies the world
over. All evidence suggests that the risk of harm from using PVC pipes in food and water supply
is so utterly slight as to be negligible. Because of this, it is almost universally used for aquaponics
as it is having several beneficial features:

 PVC Pipe comes in standard sizes worldwide
 PVC Pipe has a wide range of adapters and connectors available
 PVC Pipe is easy to use, cut and adapt
 PVC Pipe is durable and long lasting

Pipe is divided or consider to be two types, those delivering water to the grow beds and those
removing it from the grow beds, and as a general rule of thumb the pipes removing water from the
grow beds may be larger than those taking the water to them in order to ensure that the beds can
drain properly and not overflow, or at least able to adequately handle the volume of water being
delivered to the grow beds. It all depends on the system and the water flow rate.
3.3 The Connector

There are several connectors that been used in the product which describe as threaded
connectors and slip connectors. Threaded connectors are ones that screw into one another and are
designated as male and female. Slip connectors as the name suggests, just slip into one another.
In order to preserve pipe diameter, most connectors are female, and the male pipe simply fits
directly into it.

3.4 Water Pump

The pump is quite literally the beating heart of aquaponics system and it something that
should not be bought cheaply. The pump used in the system must be high quality. A quality pump
will not break, it will not leak any chemicals into the system, and it will often use less electricity
than a cheaper, less well designed and manufactured pump. There are several factors that must be
consider when choosing pump. The factors are its flow rate and it Head pressure. The flow rate
describes how much water the pump can move in litres per minute or per hour. The Head pressure
then adjusts this measurement based on how high the water is being pumped. The pump is Up-
sized since flow can always be adjust if it too high. But the pump cannot increase the flow if it is
too small. A slightly bigger pump will also allow the user to increase the size of their system if
they want to expand it later.

3.5 System Configuration

The fish tank is located at the lowest point of the system. Water pump in the fish tank pump
up water through the piping system to the Grow bed. Grow beds are place at the highest point of
the system. However, this might vary depends on the type of the system. Simple gravity drains
back water from the grow beds to the fish tank.

8.0. Conclusion
High expectation has been made for the product to be well-received by the target market
as well as secondary target market. Besides that, the team members hope that the implementation
process for the product to the market would run smoothly. In a nut shell, through the marketing
plan, it was anticipated that the marketing objective and mission would be achieved even though
the start-up cost or budget is quite high. By having detailed company profile and financial planning
consisting start-up cost, working capital, start-up capital and financing. The company hopes that
there are organization out there that willing to work together, being a partnership and joint venture
with our company in order to realize the objective, vision and mission of the company.

All the business operation is made through the needs of the customers so that the product
would satisfy the customers. Although the motive of the business is to gain profit, it is a priority
for the company to make sure that the product delivered to the customer was achieved a certain
quality standard that satisfied both the company and customer. In conclusion, the company hope
that the product will help improving the lifestyle of the customer to a be better and productive
accordance to the objective of the product.
