Theory & instal ation of VB, VM, Ubuntu

VM : An operating system within another operating system. The Virtual machine will
operate same like an individual computer. It will have guest operating system under
host operating system. It can use mails, web service and everything with its guest
operating system.

Why we are using VM. Check operating system. Run required os. Keep host os
secure.

Before starting please ensure that the host os is configured at 64 bits


What is your operating system “Windows 10”
How much RAM you have
How much your Hard disc capacity
Your CPU or Processor core and speed
Installation of Virtual Box
1. Brows virtual box.org
2. Click down load
3. Click windows 64 bit
4. Wait for downloading VB
5. After downloading—next—next—next--install—finish (after unchecking the command
in dialogue box) …..(10)
Installation of VM in virtual box
1. Click new
2. Give name class_work
3. Next—set memory at 4GB
4. Next—create a virtual hard disc
5. Create—next—next—
6. Configure hard drive 20-40 GB
7. Go to setting –system and set your cpu (processor)

Create of another VM with name home_work


1. Same procedure as above, with 4GB RAM and 20-40 GB Hard Disc

Installation of Ubuntu in windows host operating system


1. Brows Ubuntu.com
2. Click download XXXXX (18.x)
3. Select Ubuntu desktop
4. Click downloading
5. Set 0 to all donation setting
6. Click “not now” and proceed to download.
7. Download ok
8. Go to VM
9. Go to setting

10. Go to storage--controller – empty—click CD icon
11. Click “choose virtual optical disc file”
12. Copy the path of your .iso file (downloaded as per step 7)
13. Paste it on address bar---select the .iso file
14. Click oK
Start the class_work machine to start downloading Ubuntu
1. Choose machine and click start button
2. Ubuntu will start installation
3. Select English
4. Click install Ubuntu
5. Set “English(us) for key board layout
6. Continue
7. Check the boxer for “normal installation…, update files….., third party…..’
8. Check ‘erase disc…..
9. Click install now
10. Continue…continue…
11. Type credentials and password to open Ubuntu (4444)
12. Installation starts
13. After installation – re-start
14. Cancel welcome window.
