How Daytime Data and Anytime

Data Works
If customers run out of Daytime Data during
business hours (between 8:00am and 6:00pm),
the connection will not automatically slow
down. The system will use their Anytime data.
Customers will not see a slowdown until they
have used both all of their Daytime Data and all
of their Anytime Data. Outside of the Daytime
window (8:00am to 6:00pm), the system will
automatically use Anytime Data.
With their generous amounts of data and the
flexible use of Anytime Data, these business
plans are ideal for the home based business
that needs to get work done during the day, but
also needs data during the evening hours for
the family.

Smart Growth Management

Strategy
Because of the continued success of Gen5, as
of 4/5/18, HughesNet introduced a, 3-tier
version of the Smart Growth Management Plan,
which is designed to manage growth by
modifying our marketing promotional offers in
different regions of the country. Our goal is to
maximize service availability for new customers
while continuing to deliver superior service to
existing customers.
Unlike with Gen4, the new plan is not based on
a limited, fixed number of focused beams each
having broad coverage. Rather, Gen5 allows us
to have many and more precise service areas.
Each area (which could be as small as a city) is
assigned to one of 3 growth management
categories:

Managed,
Standard, or
Growth

As the network continues to grow, the

management category assigned to each area
and the offers available in each category will
change as needed to optimize service. So, the
offers that are available to a customer will
depend on the customer’s address.

Service Plan Data
There are two types of data:

Daytime Data for use during standard

business hours (8am-6pm), which is one of
the key differentiators from residential

Anytime Data that can be used 24/7—
especially helpful for performing data-

without using Daytime Data.

of their Anytime Data. Outside of the Daytime
window (8:00am to 6:00pm), the system will

HughesNet provides several features that
help customers get the most out of their
service plan data. These include:

less data. The video saver automatically sets
the system to deliver DVD quality. Customers
that want HD quality, which uses 3 times as
much data, may:

VPN
As with residential customers, Virtual Private
Network (VPN) service is generally not
recommended. It will reduce Internet
connection speed up to 70%. If your customer
requires the use of a VPN, recommend turning
the VPN off when they are not using it.

Comment

Static IP
Do not proactively offer a Static IP address.
But if the customer requests a static IP address,
one per customer is now available for a low
monthly cost of $9.99. Key points:

Available exclusively to Gen 5 customers.

Multiple static IP addresses (previously
provided under the old Access 100 and
Access 200 plans) are no longer available.
Gen5 customers with a Static IP can
upgrade or downgrade their plan without
changing their IP address.
SPACEWAY customers with a Static IP
cannot automatically transfer their old static
IP address.
Customers can add or change a static IP by
calling Customer Care at 1-800-347-3272.
$9.99 per month.

Note: Customers seldom need a static IP

address, but they might if they want any of the
following:

For VPN access. Please note that this is the

one use of a Static IP address that we don’t
recommend.
To connect an older model Point of Sale
(POS) machine. New POS devices typically
do not need a Static IP.
For direct such as a crop sprinkler file
access to a home computer.
To connect older model security cameras.
New security cameras do not require a
static IP address.
To access farm monitoring equipment,.
