Deep pullback

February 19, 2020 Nifty daily: 12,125.9

The Nifty witnessed a minor degree pullback

continuing further on the upside today. The bounce
that started towards the end of Tuesday’s session
turned out to be a sharp one. It has retraced 61.8% of
the previous fall from 12246 to 11908. Over there, the
index seems to have formed a small Ending Diagonal
pattern on the intraday chart; indicating that the
pullback could be near its maturity. So this is not a
level to initiate a fresh long position. On the contrary,
traders need to keep a tab on 12100-12080. A breach
of this support zone would be an indication of a fresh
60-minute
move down. On the other hand, the next hurdle zone
is placed near 12175-12200
Other technical observations
On the daily chart, the Nifty is above the 20-day
moving average (DMA) and the 40-DEMA, i.e. 12051
and 12083 respectively. The momentum indicator is
in bullish mode on the daily chart.
On the hourly chart, the Nifty is above the 20-hour
moving average (HMA) and the 40-HEMA, i.e. 12037
and 12074 respectively. The hourly momentum
indicator is in bullish mode. The market breadth was
positive with 1179 advances and 617 declines on the
