The brilliant author of the story of Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, was popularly known by
her fans as one of the survivors of depression. Her story of Harry Potter means a lot in terms of
her life. J.K Rowling was close to suicide during her time as a struggling young single mother.
Some characters symbolize her past; The dementors, the guardian of Azkaban (prison of wizards
and witches) these dark creatures consume a person’s happiness and good memories. They can
make a person lose courage; Death Eaters, they are the group of dark wizards and witches led by
Tom Riddle (Lord Voldemort) who seek purify to the world of wizardry. They hate
muggle-born; The house of Slytherin, commonly students who sorted here was pure-bloods they
have the attitude of being cunning, competitive and ambitious. The house of Slytherin is also
known as the house of Dark wizards and witches. The characters mentioned were only some of
the main antagonists of the story. Patronus charm-- a defensive spell, it is the number one best
spell to use to an attacking dementor; The last is the side character of the story, they are neither
an antagonist nor a protagonist, Dursley Family a close relative of Harry Potter though they are
not into Harry nor Death eaters, they just don’t believe in magic.

The Dementors in the story symbolizes the author’s depression, after learning the
struggles of the author I concluded the dementors are her depression. It has the same
characteristic, the loneliness and having a drained soul; Death Eaters symbolizes life when it is
full of revenge. Death eaters are full of pain, hate, and sorrows, that made them the antagonist;
The house of Slytherin has its actual meaning. The Patronus charm symbolizes the strength of a
person why they should fight for the loneliness. The last one is the Dursley family if I would
compare it to a dream, they are the idler thoughts, they are the thoughts that can stop you from
dreaming more, they are those crabs that will pull you down.

In my life, the story of Harry Potter means more than the story emphasizes. The
dementors are my sadness, death eaters are the people that pull me down and the Dursley, they
are my parents. Life is hard especially when it talks about fighting for your dreams, it is hard
when those dreams you have were not supported by your family. They are like the Dursley. They
would do everything just to stop you from what you want just because they thought it could harm
you. Somehow I understand the Dursley family but they can be just like Hagrid at least, Hagrid
that believes in magic believes in the dream you were fighting. The story has a lot of meaning
but the most beautiful meaning it has was the fight on how you would abandon the darkness you
have.
