2.A Find occupant load using Table 2.6.1 base on occupancy type. 2.6.3

3 Make sure Exit Access shall not pass through a room which can be locked. 2.6.4

4 Check number of Exits and Exits Access Doorways from Space as per occupant load. 2.6.5
4.A Two Exits are needed, if Occupancy load is more than 50.

section of circular type. 4"- 6.25" perimeter for other shapes.
11 Min: 1.5" handrail clearance from adjacent wall.
8.B Find out whether External or Internal Exit staircase.
1 If it is Internal Staircase, check the following. 2.6.9.1
If the stair is naturally ventilated, provide minimum permanent fixed opening 15% of stair
area.
Make sure no unprotected opening of 4ft horizontally and 10ft vertically below any part of
the ventilation opening of internal exit stair.
If the stair is mechanically ventilated, coordinate with mechanical engineer for mechanical
ventilation or stair pressurization.
2 If it is External Staircase, check the following. 2.6.9.2
There shall be no unprotected openings within 10 ft. horizontally or within 10ft vertically
below, or adjacent or facing.

8.C If the building is more than 4 storeys or more than 3 basement storeys, Smoke free
approach is needed. Check at 10.

9 Check Exits Discharge. 2.6.10

All exits shall be discharge at ground level directly into a safe exterior space .
If it can't discharge, see 2.6.10 Exception

10 Smoke Free Approach to Exit Stairs (2.6.14)
