LinkedIn Marketing

1. Account setup and optimization.

a. Image: It should be clear with plain background
b. Headliner: Not just who you are but how you can add value to people, how you can help
and how are you helping. It is the single sentence on your profile that will get maximum
amount of visibility
c. Summary: Little bit of background in terms of what you have done, little bit about what
you are doing and the how can people connect with you. If the purpose of your LinkedIn
profile is to generate lead and connections and potential customers then make it easy
for you to reach out to you and give them specific instructions about how to do that.
Offer free consultancy or some other kind of offerings which you can give.
d. Custom URL: Generate a URL for your LinkedIn page. It can be used at several places to
direct people to your page.
e. Website link and personal email
2. How to strike gold with second degree connections on LinkedIn: 1st degree connections are the
people you are directly connected with. 2nd degree connections are the connections of your 1st
degree that you can connect with. You can simply ask for an introduction from your personal
connection to the person or you can simply click on CONNECT and ask that person to connect
back. You is possible that the second degree connection are in thousands in number, it is
recommended not to connect with more than 150 members in a day.
There are other filters available if you want to search for second degree connections in a more
targeted way may be to pitch them or get on a call. You can use filters like KEYWORDS,
CONNECTIONS OF etc.
3. InMail hack: In case of 3rd connection linked in does not allow you to message that individual
directly instead asks for an upgrade that would cost you around 22 dollars. In order to avoid that
the trick is that you find the group that is common between u and that individual you are
targeting and that way u will be able to message that person directly. You can also find such
groups and join them, after that you can text them. Such groups can be found in that individual
profiles’ interests on his/her page.
4. Viral posts: You can share something amazing that you have done and share(via personal email)
a cheat sheet with people so that they can skip that learning curve and learned what you have
learned quickly. In return of that you can ask for likes and comments and also ask them to
connect with you.
5. Blog traffic: You can write an article and directly publish on LinkedIn. This is like a blog publishing
platform built into LinkedIn. LinkedIn is giving it a lot of visibility; therefore, it is an excellent
feature that can be used to promote your page. Now in terms of what kind of content you
should put at: you want to be quite targeted and your content should accomplish two goals.
Firstly, you should teach people how to solve a problem or make them aware of the problem. It
establishes you as a thought leader and each aspect is naturally going to lead in new business via
new connections if you offer them real value, its basic psychology. You can also share a blog or
an article, but the advantage of writing an article is that everybody that you are connected with
will be notified. It is better to publish than to share.
6. Groups: You can create a group in LinkedIn. In case of Labhya we can create a group that is
interested in social emotional leaning, and in that group we can share post related to benefits of
SEM, what it is all about, why do we need it, what is the development that is happening in that
field etc. Step no. 2 is to find people to join our group: Funnel people that are already active in

similar group, the way we do that is we first join such similar groups and then we can go into the
members section of these groups and directly message them to join our group, also paste a link
to our group as well. You would also want to block any competitors from getting in, you would
also want to demonstrate your value, your expertise, don’t be overtly spamy or salessy. It is
hugely advantageous to have all your target audience in one place.
7. Company Page: Look at the various company pages and try to apply that. After setting it up you
can ask or encourage your employees to set it up, you can give the information about the page
to the HR department and ask them to go get everybody setup.
