SOME TIPS for finding the
CAPITAL city of the Country

• Always start with the latitude


and always check whether it’s
north or south

• Follow with the longitude and


check whether it’s east or west

• Always check where the o


degree is. It always falls in the
equator for latitude while it falls
in the prime meridian for
longitude.

• Though we may not exactly


figure the number, estimate at
least close to the coordinates.
Do a smaller skip counting.
How about if you’re to write the
absolute location of the whole
country?

• Take note that, we can’t really say


it’s absolute or exact. It is only
absolute in a way that somehow
our estimated location is a
particular country. We’re after the
skills of being able to apply it.

• First, make a mark on the farthest


sides of the country. You may even
square the country.

• Second, find the latitude first of the


country from the small to big
coordinates (e.g. 5°-11°). Then
right the direction. N or S for
latitude (e.g. 5°-11° N) . Do the the
same with longitude. E or West for
longitude.
What to Do if the country lies in
the prime meridian or equator?

• Then, determine first the degree


location on one direction (e.g.
north first) then find the same
on the opposite direction (which
is south). This is for countries
that lie in the equator. So, you
will have to write both direction
where it lies. (e. g. 5°N-11°S vs.
5°-11°S only if it lies in only one
direction).

• This goes the same with


longitude. You will have to write
both E and W (e.g. 5°E-11°W)
Notice that both direction
appears as it both lies on the
east and on the west.
