Management Principles Extracted from the Conversation between the Chanakya and Chandragupta.

As there was little literature available on the conversation between chanakya and Chandragupta, The
following are the management principles extracted from the conversation between chanakya and
Chandragupta.

1. According to the dictation of chanakya one should be careful about his enemy no glimpse of the
enemy should be left undestroyed, If left so may create unnecessary troubles and may even
become a impending danger.
2. Removing such a thing or a person may not be branded as punishment but it should be viewed in
social perspective. A person who occupies the higher chair does have the responsibility of clearing
the society.
3. Any Invention or discovery made has to be recorded in the form of written text; hence recording
ones contribution would enable the proper regulation of existing system.
4. Making mountain of a mole hill would not lead to success, the triviality of life need not to be
given much emphasize and importance.
5. One has to be truthful even to his enemy; in the mean time he should be careful and conscious
that he does not tare the things in his stride.
6. The Brahmin suppose to have intelligence and the king should be mightier enough. Both the
capacities must work in amalgamation, if not the division would be lead to disaster and the enemy
would make advantage of the situation.
7. When one speaks, his speech has to be pregnant with content, only such a speech would have
desired results, if the speech is meaningless it would lead to wrong interpretation.
8. A person who destined to rule must in the must in always suitable for the position he holds. This
person should have appropriate leadership qualities.
9. The real strength and courage of a person lies not in the sadden. Out break of ones anger towards
his opponent, but if has to be shown at the appropriate time and in a most appropriate way.

Some management principles on Kautilya’s conversation with others.

o Work is the root of wealth.

o The low minded are fond of deception
o Prosperity depends on the intellect
o Good Living enhances life span and reputation.
o There is no scripture greater than good conduct
o It is the duty of the ruler to ensure speedy disposal of all pressing matters and not
suspend them. If the matter is postponed, consideration and decision become
together to take care of and sometimes, it is even unattainable.
o Plan the activities for each day. What has to be done next day should be finished
today and what is to be done in the afternoon should be accomplished in the
forenoon.
o One, who wishes to attain quick achievement of tasks, would not look toward the
stars in order to know his fortune. The prognostics of rationale are much above the
stars when it comes to direction and advice.

Kautilya : View of Foreign Authors

Most of the foreign authors referred shows that there is no proof of kautilya and the
treaty Arthashastra was not authored by him, because they sustain their statement with the
help of the notes of magasthenes, they also stated that it was a treatise written by some
other person in the recent times and was published in the name of kautilya.

History of Chanakya and Incident made him to utilize his Intelligence against
Nandha’s Dynasty

Vishnugupta lived in the capital city Pataliputra (now it is Patna) of Magada,

during the period of 350-275 BC; His father, Chanak, was a learned Brahmin, Being a
teacher himself, Chanak knew the importance of education, He started to teach his son
vishnugupta in his early age (he himself) was learned noble and self-esteemed Brahmin,
he would not tolerate any injustice deeds. It was quite natured; the corrupt and arrogant
king of magada did not like him. Chanak’s family was harassed by the king on some false
reasons. He was killed through an immoral way, Vishnugupta was a young boy at this
time he was extremely sad on his father’s death and injustice happened with him. His life
was also in danger so he changed his name as Chanakya and left Pataliputra by taking
oath that he would come back and fight against injustice, tyrannical, corrupt and immoral
king Dhannanda.
After the crucial situation. Vishnugupta went to Takshila. A world famous
University for all kind of education, there he studied Vedas and Upanishads. His major
area interests are Economics and Politics, his acumen and shrewdness was visible right
from childhood. Just like his father he was disciplined, bold and fearless; He would
debate with his fellow teachers on various subjects. Due to his intelligence and leadership
qualities, he was dear to all including other students and teachers.

Through the crucial situation and the thorny path he crossed made him to realize
that education and gathering of more knowledge will be powerful one and this only can
help him to destroy the Nandha’s dynasty. So he concentrated more on his studies with a
oath to become master of politics and Economics. He was a very brilliant person he was
full of determination in achieving any objective. He was well versed in all Shastras or
branch of knowledge, an expert economist, a statesman per excellence He was a master
of four methods of persuasion and punishment or war, He was mature in the strategy of
war and very intelligent. No one could makeup what was going on his mind. So secretive
was he in his method, and far-sighted, in any endeavor his calculations never went wrong
and he never missed his aim.
He was at the same time very religious and given to strict renunciation, apparently
of a harsh nature, he could employ various methods carefully at the right time to destroy
his enemies. There was no branch of knowledge, which he had not mastered. He is an
unparalleled diplomat and persons equal to chanakya are very rare in the world.
