The application of Scientific Learning by using role play method and media video assistance to improve

VA grade students achievement in learning Ilmu Pengetahuan Sosial of SD N 1 Banjar Jawa in the
academic year 2017/2018

This study was aimed to improve students’ achievement in learning social science through scientific
learning by using role play method assisted by video media in students class VA at SDN 1 Banjar Jawa
academic year of 2018/2019.

This study was a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The subject of this study was
students of class VA at SDN 1 Banjar Jawa academic year of 2018/2019, consisted of 43 students. Data
collection of students’ achievement in learning social science was collected by using essay test. Then, the
data was analyzed using descriptive-qualitative and descriptive-quantitative techniques. The result of this
study showed that the data of students’ achievement in learning social science in cycle 1, there were 27
students (62,79%) indicated were very good, there were 9 students (20,93%) indicated were good and 7
students (16,27%) indicated were good enough.

After applied cycle 2, there were 33 students (76,74%) indicated very good, there were 9 students
(20,93%) were indicated good and 1 student (2,32%) was indicated good enough. From the result in cycle
1, there were 74,06% students were in medium category and in cycle 2 there were 85,31% were in high
category. In other words, the improvement of students’ achievement in learning social science after applied
cycle 1 and cycle 2 was 12,57%. The result of this study showed that the application of scientific learning
by using role play method assisted by video can improve students’ achievement in learning social science
in class VA at SDN 1 Banjar Jawa academic year of 2018/2019.

Setelah diterapkan siklus II, sebanyak 33 siswa (76,74%) tergolong sangat baik, 9 siswa (20,93%)
tergolong baik, dan 1 siswa (2,32%) tergolong sedang/cukup.74,06% berada pada kategori sedang dan
pada siklus II mencapai 85,31% berada pada katagori tinggi. Dengan demikian, peningkatan hasil belajar

The purpose of this study was to improve the results of social studies
learning through the application of scientific learning with the role
playing method assisted by video media to improve the results of
Social Sciences learning of VA class students of SDN 1 Banjar Jawa
Academic Year 2018/2019. This research is a classroom action

of this study were VA class students of SDN 1 Banjar Jawa Academic
Year 2018/2019, as many as 43 students. Data collection of social
studies learning outcomes in this study was carried out using essay-
shaped test method. Furthermore, the data was analyzed with
descriptive-qualitative and quantitative-descriptive techniques. The
research data shows that in the first cycle of social studies learning
data in the first cycle, there were 27 students (62.79%) classified as
very good, 9 students (20.93%) classified as good, and 7 students
(16.27%) classified as moderate /enough. After being applied cycle II,
33 students (76.74%) were classified as very good, 9 students
(20.93%) were classified as good, and 1 student (2.32%) classified as
moderate / sufficient. 74.06% were in the category medium and in the
second cycle reached 85.31% in the high category. Thus, the increase
in social studies learning outcomes reached 12.57%. The results of
this study indicate that the application of scientific learning with the
role playing method assisted video media can improve the results of
Social Sciences learning in VA class students of SDN 1 Banjar Jawa
Academic Year 2018/2019.
