Industry Economic Scenario
Pakistan has a very strong base in home textile industry with a wide range
of products line i.e. bed linen, towels cleaning cloths, blankets, curtains and
furnishings, canvas products and table linen. The very industry has the second largest
share in home textile exports in the world after China. Major clusters of bed linen are in
Karachi, Faisalabad, Lahore, Multan and Hyderabad.

Towels:

Towel is an important product used in everyday life. Towels and its allied
products constitute an important sector of textile industry. In made ups, towels sub-
sector is the second largest after bed linen in terms of production and exports.

Towels are manufactured in various sizes, shapes and qualities depending

upon customers’ requirements. It consists of a wide range of towel products like towels,
terry towels, warp pile fabric, dish cloth, wash cloth, floor cloth, bar mops, bathrobes,
bath mats, dusters, kitchen towels etc. The existing installed capacity of auto looms of
towels was about 15,000 and auto shuttle less looms are about 5,000 in 2016.
