Reported Challenges with PTSAs
A number of NetAcad instructors and students have reported issues with launching and executing PTSAs. The NetAcad
Engineering team has determined that one of the main causes was the constantly self-updating Java environment of the
desktops.

PTSA Work Around with Packet Tracer 7.2

The NetAcad Engineering team will continue to investigate and work toward a long-term solution for this problem. In the short
term, NetAcad would like to introduce the PTSA Work Around with Packet Tracer 7.2

The PTSA Work Around utilizes the embedded browser with Packet Tracer to eliminate the dependency on the Java
environment in the instructors and students’ desktop

Launching PTSA with Packet Tracer 7.2

1) Select Take PTSA Exam under the Extensions menu

2) The Netacad Exam Player application will launch using the

embedded Packet Tracer browser. This application will be
underneath the Packet Tracer window and can be navigated using
the Windows taskbar

3) Instructors and students will need to logon to NetAcad.com even if

they are already logged-on in another browser.

4) Subsequently, the normal process to navigate and take the PTSA

exam will apply
