Weekly blog week 3:

What have you done and how has it helped?

This week I have been continuing on with my topic research. I have been adding more depth to all of
the different sub categories that I started on last week. I got a famous example of when a fan
abusing a player from the side-line got what was coming towards him. I looked in more detail
towards Rugby and the respect and ethics around this, and into why there is more respect in rugby
over football. I then started thinking about a list of people I could interview. After this I put it onto
my website and thought about how I would contact them. Once this was done I then wanted to
make a start on my target audience research even though I had not finished my topic research
completely yet. I made an initial survey asking about what people thought my target audience
should be and sent it out to as many people I could on email and on my phone through social media.
While waiting for my results I added more to my topic research. Finally I was asked to peer mark a
person from the classes work and so I did that and sent it off to them. Now that, that is done I have
received my own feedback and I will need to look over and add any improvements from this.

What I have done this week has helped me shape my production even more. After looking in a bit
more detail about who I want to interview has even me a better idea at the content and answers
they are going to give me. This has given me and early idea of how I will structure my documentary
and the interviews in that. I’ve found out more information about why sports like rugby have more
respect in them and I can use this to create a small narrative in more production as I find out more
and more why there is a lack of respect in football.

Has your idea changed due to research?

Yes my idea has changed due to research. In the beginning I only wanted to focus on football and the
issues around this. But over time and research and help from my teachers I have looked into more
about rugby and I might try looking into some other sports as well to see how respect is viewed and
used. Next is the racism angel that I am also including before I was only going to add in a small
section on racism in football as I had no idea about the extent it has in the sport in this day and age.
What I found was it still plays a part in football as it is still being used today at games all over the
country on a range of different skill levels and even too children.

Who is your target audience?

My target audience research is only in the first stage as I am only now getting in results for my
survey. But I have a rough idea that my target audience is going to be big as I feel like my
documentary relates and will interest a lot of people. This is because any that likes football will like
this documentary on top of the people that play and who are involved with this low level playing of
the game. Lastly it is an interesting topic on its own that has never had a documentary made about
it.
What feedback did I get from my peers?

This is the feedback from a peer in the class. It has helped me because in the improvements it states
I should do some research into the professions I have chosen to interview. Once I saw this I thought
this was a good idea and I began to look into the different people I have chosen and what they do.

How has peer marking work helped you develop?

I felt that peer marking another person in the classes work has reminded me of the standard for
distinction and what I will have to do to achieve this. As well as what I am missing on my own site
and the areas I feel l could improve. I need to go back onto my website and add to the end of the
pages of research more detail about how I am going to use what I have found to help in my
production.
