Research Design

The researchers used descriptive-correlation design in this study. The

purpose of this study is to deliberate the effects of socio-economic status and the

academic performance of grade 6 pupils of J.B.T Caing Sr. Memorial Integrated

School. According to Aquino, Descriptive method is something more and beyond

just data gathering; the latter is not reflective thinking or research. It often

involves some type of comparison or contrast.

Descriptive research defined as a research method that describes the

characteristics of the population or phenomenon that is being studied. This

methodology focuses more on the “what” of the research subject rather than the

“why” of the research subject. Correlational research is a type of non-

experimental research method, in which a researcher measures two variables,

understands and assess the statistical relationship between them with no influence

from any extraneous variable.
