MANAGEMENT
ENGR. MICHAEL L. NULLAS
What is Project Management?
Project is defined as a one‐time endeavor with well‐defined, often unique goals, with spe
cific limits of both time and cost.
The goals of the project are the goals of the project team. As the lead on the p
roject team, the goals of the project manager are synergized with the team. T
hey are result of a clear understanding of the project documents made evident
during the planning process. Some of the goals are contractual in nature, and
some are imposed by the senior management. Understanding those goals and
keeping them on target and in the focus of the project team is paramount to t
he success of any project and a primary responsibility of the project manager.
Many projects become hopelessly derailed because the team loses focus of the
goals or, worse, were unclear on what the goals were in the beginning.
