The Optimist Creed

It is not that today’s economic

conditions will have a cataclysmic
effect on us and we will change for
the better suddenly, but there is
always a tiny light of hope. HOPE
is what we humans survive on.
Mike and Jake were two agents working in a shoe manufacturing company.
One day the boss called them to his cabin and asked them whether they
would interested to visit Africa for few days and prepare a report
analyzing the business opportunities in Africa.
Both Mike and Jake were brilliant
marketers and they readily agreed.
They spent 30 days touring the tribal
areas and in the end, both presented
different marketing reports.
Mike concluded that there is no
market for shoes because the
tribal people don’t wear shoes.
Jake concluded that there is
a huge potential for shoes
because the tribal people
don’t wear shoes.
You see, even though Mike
and Jake agreed on one
common thing, that is, the
tribal people don’t wear
shoes, their perception of
the situation is altogether
different !!!
Mike says there is no potential,
while Jake says there is huge
potential. Who is the optimist
here? If one is so naïve to
follow Mike’s perception,
the business is doomed.
Moral Lesson # 1 : The success of your life lies in your perception.
The difference between a successful people and a non-successful one will always
depend on their perception to identify opportunities. Never underestimate the
power of positive thinking!
Moral Lesson # 2 : Positive thinking makes you competent.
A not-so-positive thinker simply does not have the drive and perseverance to handle
his life and business. When you have a positive perception, you can actually visualize
the path to success and you are able to identify advantageous opportunities.
Moral Lesson # 3 : Positive thinker is an optimist
A positive thinker is also an optimist. Seeing the bright side of things is not everyone’s
forte. He has to readily face the demons of his own creation. This means he should not
treat his life and business casually and work really hard to make it a success.
Moral Lesson # 4 : Positive thinking always motivate YOU!!!
Your positive thinking will motivate you to attain goals and ambition you never thought
was possible. Your positive thinking will get you through bad days. You positive thinking
will always motivate you to see the brighter side of things.
Moral Lesson # 5 : Positive perception will reflect your LIFE!!!
Further, building a positive perception is not only about YOU; your positive perception
will reflect and benefit your life and business as well. As in the story above, you need
to have the perception and optimism of Jake to succeed.
The Optimist Creed is a great place to start. The Optimist Creed was authored
in 1912 by Christian D. Larson, appearing in his book Your Forces and How to
Use Them. It was adopted as Optimist International's creed in 1922. You can
see it and read it in a matter of minutes every day.
Promise Yourself:
To be so strong that
nothing can disturb
your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness
and prosperity to every
person you meet.
To make all your
friends feel that
there is something
in them.
To look at the sunny side
of everything and make
your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to
work only for the best and
to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic
about the success of others
as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press
on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance
at all times and give every living
creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the
improvement of yourself
that you have no time to
criticize others.
To be too large for worry,
too noble for anger, too
strong for fear, and too
happy to permit the
presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself &
to proclaim this fact to the
world, not in loud word,
but in great deeds.
To live in the faith that the
whole world is on your side,
so long as you are true to
the best that is in you.

Thank You Very Much
