Rural poor

There are many reasons why most of the people in our country saying that
they consider their family/ themselves as in the state of poverty. The rapid
population growth that our country cannot cope with can attribute to the poverty.
We can also blame it to unemployment, inflation, inequality and corruption/ grant
as a direct cause of why Filipino are poor. However, if we are going to simplify the
cause, we may say that most of the Filipino is poor because they were born poor as
a matter of circumstance.

Philippine farm yield is lowest in the ASEAN, which not only affects food
supply, but more so farm income. Rural poverty in our country at nearly 40 percent
of rural folks is highest in the ASEAN. Rural poverty refers to poverty in rural
areas, including factors of rural society, rural economy, and political systems.
People in our country that saying they are poor are living in rural areas. The
development of agriculture can play a significant role in rural poverty, since the
majority of Filipino living in rural areas depending on agricultural activities
that consisted of rice, corn, coconut, sugar, banana, livestock, poultry, other crops
and fishery production in order to provide source of income and employment. It
also contributes to the overall economic growth of our economy since the state of
rural economy can influence the non-farm rural economy. Furthermore, the
recognition of poverty as the root cause of problems of hunger and under nutrition
assigns agricultural development to improve nutrition through increasing the
quantity, quality and variety of food supplies, and through creating employment
and income earning opportunities for the poor.
