Review of Related Literature and Studies

This chapter explains the Online Car Rental System, stating the similarities and differences of
existing local and global systems. This study consists of different related literature and research for
progress of the system and further innovation by using the related studies to come up with a more user
friendly and usable system.

AVIS CAR RENTAL

Avis Indonesia has car rental system that is involving the customer’s inquiries. They will fill out
forms to rent a car. The form will be submitted to the office. After the verification process is completed,
car and the driver information will be delivered through the system, along with rental history records.
The research aims to build an online car rental system. The researcher used five stages development life
cycle including planning, analysis, design, implementation and use, which utilized programming
language of PHP 5.0 and version 5.1.30 MYSQL database. Based on the analysis, the information system
could increase the time efficiency on average up to two days for delivering the car to customers, and a
paper cost savings up to Rp. 750,000 in rental history records.

The U.S. car rental industry is believed to have began back in 1916, when a Nebraska man by the
name of Joe Saunders decided to lend out his Ford Model T to local and visiting businessmen. This savvy

It also allows the administrator managed data source in short time. It accepts new reservation
vehicles, View vehicles model, view date reservation for vehicles, and travel information so that
customers can easy look out travel location they need. The system will add on the new featured like
validation form to tell the user key in the correct value. The system wills keep records for the customers,
and purchases items. So that administrator can manage customer reservation lists.

 A quality in use model composed of the five characteristics (some of which are further
subdivided into sub-characteristics) that relate to the outcome of interaction when a product is
used in a particular context of use. This system model is applicable to the complete human-
computer system, including both computer systems in use and software products in use.
 A product quality model composed of eight characteristics (which are further subdivided into
sub-characteristics) that relate to static properties of software and dynamic properties of the
computer system. The model is applicable to both computer systems and software products.
In this diagram, data is being process and shows what the output on the system are. The

first diagram consists of all the requirements needed to accomplish this study.

Knowledge requirements are the information and data needed for the study, software

requirements are program and specifications that needed to in developing the

application and hardware requirements are the hardware tools and equipment used in

developing the system. The second diagram shows the process and methodology used

in developing the system. The last diagram displays the output of the project.
