Moringa Seeds Extract As Herbal Therapy Through Decreasing of Inflammation Focus and

Interleukin-1β Expression in Hepatic Tissue Metabolic Syndrome Rats

This research aimed to determine the effect of Moringa seeds extract to inflammation focus and
Interleukin-1β Expression in Hepatic Tissue and Lipid Profile of Rats With Metabolic Syndrome

This was laboratory experimental research using pretest postest group design and posttest only
group design. Rats were divided into 4 groups: K1 were control group, K2 were metabolic syndrome
rats model, K3 and K4 were metabolic syndrome rats model and given Moringa seeds extract dose
150mg/KgBW and 200mg/KgBW. The metabolic syndrome induced by duck yolk 2ml/200gBW,
oxidized oil 1ml/200gBW, beef tallow 2ml/200gBW and fructose 0,36ml/200gBW for 53 days and
Moringa seeds extract as intervention was given 28 days. Effect of moringa seeds extract to focus
inflammation and IL-1β expression in hepatic tissue were analyzed with Kruskal-wallis test
continued with Mann-Whitney Test and One Way Anova Test continued with Tukey Test.

Kruskal Wallis test of liver inflammation showed that there were significant differences (p<0,05),
whereas Mann-Whitney test showed ther One Way ANOVA test and ph Tukey HSD showed that
there were significant differences (p<0,05). One-Way ANOVA test showed a significant difference of
IL-1β expression between four group (p < 0.05). Tukey HSD showed a significant difference between
K1 and K2 (p < 0.05), K2 among K3 and K4 showed significant difference (p < 0.05). But there were
not significant difference of IL-1β expression K1 and K4.e were significant differences between K1-
K2, K2-K3, and K2-K4 (p<0,05).

Moringa oleifera seeds extract at a dose of 150mg/KgBB and a dose of 200mg/KgBB could decrease
IL-1β expression and repair liver inflammation in hepatic tissue in metabolic syndrome rats.
